What you’ll do as a Pole/Anchor Operator

  • Participate in all phases of telecommunication construction, including loading, driving, delivery, digging, removal, and placement of various types, sizes, and weights of construction materials and equipment.
  • Drive and operate equipment such as pole and bucket trucks to and from the job site.
  • Place utility poles.
  • Safely use hand tools and equipment like wrenches, drills, ladders, lanyards, saws, lashers, climbing hooks, etc.
  • Safely operate mechanized equipment such as bucket trucks, digger derricks, excavators, and others.
  • Set up safety perimeters using signage, cones, and barriers.
  • Flag traffic when required.
  • Understand separation and clearance regulations.
  • Work safely aloft using climbing hooks and ladders.

What you’ll need

  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Authorization to work in the United States.
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License.
  • Basic knowledge and ability to operate utility trucks and equipment safely.
  • Basic knowledge and ability to use hand tools and equipment safely.
  • Ability to climb telephone poles, work in bucket trucks, and work aloft and climb poles up to 40 feet.
  • Able to lift/carry 50 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs as needed, with or without assistance.
  • Previous construction experience, preferably in telecommunications.
  • Ability to perform all telecommunications construction duties such as pole transfers, maintenance builds, new builds, cable installation, over lash, and strand construction.

Physical abilities & exposures

  • Routinely: Work alone in remote locations and confined spaces, operate vehicles and heavy machinery, perform fine hand motions, bend, stoop, stand, walk, climb stairs, lift over 55 pounds, and have close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, with the ability to adjust focus. May be exposed to dust, fumes, or airborne pathogens.
  • Occasionally: Exposure to toxic or corrosive chemicals, moving machinery parts, and long hours of driving and sitting.

Salary Range: $20.00 to $24.00/hr (based on experience)
