King Asphalt is seeking a screed operator to monitor and adjust the screed on asphalt pavers, ensuring correct depth and grade per specifications. The role requires attention to unusual noises, safety awareness, and the ability to work nights or extended shifts when needed.
Responsibilities include setting the screed at the start of each operation, adjusting as required, and assisting with end-of-day screed maintenance.
Monitor the operation and function of the screed throughout the workday, maintain an awareness of unusual noises on the paver or operation of the screed. Operator must bring any exceptions to the attention of the foreman. The ability to set the screed on the asphalt paver at the beginning of each operation; adjust the screed according to the asphalt lay down specification in order to receive correct depth and to make correct grade and finished cross-section. The ability to operate the screed in a manner to assure the safety of personnel around and on the equipment. Assist in the cleaning and maintenance to screed at the end of the day. Equipment must be clean and kept in an orderly condition. Operator must have the ability to work nights and extended shifts when the project dictates. All safety rules are to be followed. Operator is expected to perform other duties as assigned.
Must be able to comply with instructions and direction. Operator must be able to read and use fixed gauges, rulers, and other adjustable measuring instruments where some interpretation is required.
Over three months and up to one year to become familiar with the operation of the screed and equipment to obtain desired results.
