Job summary

King Asphalt, Inc. is seeking a Screed Operator to monitor the screed on the asphalt paver throughout the workday. You will adjust the screed to specification to achieve correct depth and grade, and you must maintain safety for all personnel around the equipment.

Responsibilities include keeping the screed clean at day’s end and being able to work nights and extended shifts when required, while following all safety rules and directions from the foreman.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read and use fixed gauges, rulers, and other adjustable measuring instruments where some interpretation is required.
• Experience of over three months and up to one year to become familiar with screed operation and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Monitor the operation and function of the screed throughout the workday and report any anomalies to foreman.
• Set and adjust the screed on the asphalt paver to meet depth and grade specifications.
• Maintain safety for personnel around the equipment and follow all safety rules.
• Assist in cleaning and maintenance of the screed at the end of the day; keep equipment clean and orderly.
• Work nights and extended shifts when the project dictates; perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

Monitor the operation and function of the screed throughout the workday, maintain an awareness of unusual noises on the paver or operation of the screed. Operator must bring any exceptions to the attention of the foreman.The ability to set the screed on the asphalt paver at the beginning of each operation; adjust the screed according to the asphalt lay down specification in order to receive correct depth and to make correct grade and finished cross-section.

The ability to operate the screed in a manner to assure the safety of personnel around and on the equipment.

Assist in the cleaning and maintenance to screed at the end of the day. Equipment must be clean and kept in an orderly condition.

Operator must have the ability to work nights and extended shifts when the project dictates.

All safety rules are to be followed.

Operator is expected to perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE:

Must be able to comply with instructions and direction. Operator must be able to read and use fixed gauges, rulers, and other adjustable measuring instruments where some interpretation is required.

EXPERIENCE:

Over three months and up to one year to become familiar with the operation of the screed and equipment to obtain desired results.
