Job summary

HKA Enterprises seeks an Operator-in-Training in Hoboken, NJ to join a team performing operation and maintenance of a municipal wastewater treatment plant. You will contribute to preventive maintenance, monitor equipment, collect samples, and perform quality control testing to support safe, efficient facility operations.

Shift options include 2nd (2:00 PM–10:30 PM) and 3rd (10:00 PM–6:30 AM); training schedule is Monday–Friday.

Qualifications

• Basic experience operating water/wastewater treatment plants.
• Basic understanding of computer software, including Microsoft Office Suite, and ability to enter data into a maintenance management system.
• Valid driver's license.
• Must pass Fitness for Duty testing to ensure physical and functional fitness for this safety-sensitive position.
• Ability to perform physical tasks including standing, walking, sitting, stooping, kneeling, squatting, grasping, reaching, and repetitive hand movements
• Ability to work in varied environments (indoor/outdoor, loud noise, active machinery, high-pressure fluid systems, electrical equipment, confined spaces, heights/depths, fumes, airborne particles, noxious gases, and chemicals)

Responsibilities

• Observe variations in operating conditions and interpret meter and gauge readings.
• Collect samples and maintain shift logs.
• Perform preventive maintenance on equipment and conduct quality control testing.

• Perform other duties as required

Job description

Through the delivery of operations and maintenance services, we make it simpler and more seamless for our municipal clients to operate safely and efficiently, empowering communities to focus on what matters most — people. As an Operator-in-Training based in Hoboken, NJ, you'll join a collaborative team performing a variety of tasks in the operation and maintenance of a wastewater treatment plant, including equipment maintenance and quality control testing. You'll contribute to the success of the program through efficient preventive maintenance and effective solutions to challenges that arise in municipal facilities.

Pay: $20.00- $ 25.96 per hour DOE

Preferred:

• Current NJDEP S1 Wastewater License, or actively working toward obtaining one
• Basic familiarity with the principles and practices of water/wastewater treatment plant operations, valves, pumps, and motors
• Safe work practices

Shift & Schedule:

Position is for either 2nd shift (2:00 PM–10:30 PM) or 3rd shift (10:00 PM–6:30 AM); days off TBD

During training: Monday–Friday schedule

If hired, candidates will be required to obtain the NJDEP Wastewater License S1 within 24 months of employment
