Job summary

Rise Baking Company in York, PA is seeking an Operator III, Production Line - 1st Shift to manufacture cake icing and fillings per designated specifications. You will perform repetitive tasks, monitor and operate mixing equipment, keep accurate batch records, and uphold GMP and SQF food-safety standards.

Overtime and weekend work may be required. Collaborate with line leads to ensure adequate icing supply, accurate inventory, and compliance with all safety policies while maintaining clean work

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Repetitive motions on a regular basis.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and lift/move up to 100 lbs.
• Overtime required: more than 40 hours per week.
• Read and write English; basic math skills.
• Basic computer skills and ability to operate a scanner.
• Must tolerate allergens: peanut products, egg, dairy, gluten, soy, seafood and shellfish.
• Train and coach new and existing employees.

Responsibilities

• Inspect mixing equipment for cleanliness or damage and report deficiencies.
• Review daily ingredient requirements against standards and notify discrepancies.
• Review icing inventory for daily use and update inventory daily.
• Scale ingredients and calculate batch requirements and adjustments as directed.
• Operate mixing and metering equipment per procedures.
• Maintain batch records, ingredient lot numbers, temperatures, and gravities.
• Enter information into the warehouse management system (WMS).
• Adhere to GMPs and keep work areas and equipment clean.
• Coordinate with line lead to ensure proper icing supply to the line.
• Report safety hazards and comply with GMP policies.
• Support SQF Food Safety Code compliance and escalate issues as needed.
• Back up for other icing mixers and production lead.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Purpose

Manufactures various cake icing and filling products in accordance with designated specifications; performs job tasks of a repetitive lifting nature in accordance with product type and production requirements; conforms to Good Manufacturing and Safety practices as outlined by company policy.

Essential Functions

• Inspects mixing equipment for cleanliness or possible damage during set-up and reports deficiencies to supervisor.
• Reviews daily ingredient requirements against standard requirements and notifies supervisor of discrepancies.
• Reviews icing inventory for daily use. Update inventory daily.
• Scales ingredients in accordance with pre-determined formulas and procedures; calculates batch requirements and batch size adjustments as directed by supervisor.
• Operates various mixing and metering equipment in accordance with pre-determined procedures.
• Maintains records of batches produced as well as ingredient lot numbers, temperatures, and specific gravities.
• Enters all required information into the warehouse management system (WMS)
• Follows Good Manufacturing Practices by adhering to company policy and keeping work areas and equipment neat and clean on an ongoing basis.
• Maintain continuous communication with line lead to ensure proper icing supply to the line
• Responsibility to work and act safely in accordance with all policies
• Responsibility to report safety hazards to people or product and comply with all Good Manufacturing Practices.
• Ensure products meet the requirements of the SQF Food Safety Code by reporting to a leader, supervisor, or manager any instances or conditions that would negatively affect the products quality, food safety, or regulatory requirements.
• Back up for this position is other Icing Mixers and Production Lead.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Qualifications (Education/Experience)

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Ability to perform repetitive motions on a regular basis
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment using both hands, frequent bending/stooping with occasional walking and lifting/moving up to 100 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand for a full shift
  • Must be able to push and pull wheeled bowls in excess of 750lbs
• Must be able to work over 40 hours per week and 8 hours per day- ability to work overtime is required
• Basic Math skills
• Must be able to read and write English
• Basic computer skills and ability to operate scanner gun
