Job summary

Alcon in Houston, TX is seeking an Operator III (Local Materials Control CDL Truck Driver) to join our Warehouse & Distribution team. You will safely operate CDL Class A vehicle, perform pre-trip inspections, and support loading, unloading, and inventory control to ensure on-time delivery.

The role requires reading and following loading protocols, using RF scanners, and maintaining accurate records of received and shipped items.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Fluent reading, writing, understanding, and speaking English.
• Work Schedule: 2nd Shift - 11:00 AM CST - 9:30 PM (Wed-Sat)
• Travel: Up to 10% (Home every night)
• Work Location: Houston, TX.

Responsibilities

• Follow loading protocols, securing cargo with chains and binders, and rechecking stability.
• Inspect trailers before/after loading and adjust equipment as needed.
• Adhere to traffic safety regulations and report unsafe conditions.
• Assist in unloading cargo and maintaining product quality.
• Receive goods, verify items against shipment records, and other shipping/receiving tasks.
• Gather, verify, and pack items for shipment according to specifications.

This role is part of Alcon's Warehouse & Distribution function, a team focused on improving quality, processes, products, packaging, and materials across our business to help deliver brilliant outcomes.

As an Operator III (Local Materials Control CDL Truck Driver) supporting our warehouse in Houston, TX, you will be trusted to use your Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Class A and perform safety checks of brakes, steering column, lights, and mirrors prior to each leg of your journey to ensure road readiness.

Specifics include:

• Following and maintaining loading protocols, using chains and binders to secure cargo, and rechecking their stability throughout trips
• Inspecting trailers before and after loading, paying attention to the status of airlines and jack positions, and adjusting them as vital
• Always adhering to traffic safety regulations, reporting unsafe vehicle or road conditions to the supervisor
• Assisting in unloading cargo and maintaining product quality
• Additional warehouse shipping and receiving responsibilities may include receiving goods, verifying items against the shipment record, etc.
• Gathering, verifying, and packing items for shipment according to specifications and the applicable transportation method
• Recording received and shipped items

Preferred Qualifications/Skills/Experience

• Commercial Driver's License (CDL) - Class A
• Ability to lift to 30 lbs., and stand for long periods
• Prior experience operating multiple types of forklifts (Stand Up, Counterbalance, Riding Jack)
• Prior experience with RF Scanners
• SAP experience
