Job summary

Opti Staffing is seeking an experienced CNC Setup / Machine Operator in Portland, OR to set up and run a range of machines, including Fanuc and AB-controlled equipment, ensuring parts meet tight geometries and tolerances.

You will troubleshoot, program NC/robotic systems as needed, and perform quality inspections while adhering to OSHA and Lockout/Tagout safety requirements. Day and swing shifts available, full-time position with growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Proven CNC machine setup and operation experience.
• Experience performing complex setups and changeovers.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
• Strong understanding of precision measurement and quality inspection.
• Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and programming issues.
• Knowledge of OSHA and Lockout/Tagout safety requirements.

Responsibilities

Who We Are:

Opti Staffing is hiring an experienced CNC Setup / Machine Operator for a manufacturing environment focused on precision components and complex machining operations. We’re looking for someone who can confidently perform complex setups, operate multiple pieces of equipment, troubleshoot mechanical and programming issues, and consistently produce quality parts to tight tolerances.

What You’ll Do:

Set up and operate a variety of machines and automated equipment simultaneously, including:

• Fanuc-controlled equipment
• Allen-Bradley 4-axis milling machines
• CNC machine tools
• Grinders
• Polishers
• Presses
• Robotic loading systems
• Assembly equipment

• Perform complex and non-routine setups and changeovers
• Set up machines to produce parts with close tolerances and complex geometries
• Perform numerical control and/or robotic programming as needed
• Monitor machine operation and production output
• Make mechanical and program adjustments to ensure quality and production requirements are met
• Conduct regular quality audits by measuring and inspecting components to tight tolerances
• Troubleshoot equipment and process issues
• Recommend process improvements to increase productivity and quality
• Train operators within the work area as needed
• Mix chemical solutions as required
• Follow all OSHA, Oregon, and company safety requirements
• Follow proper Lockout/Tagout procedures
• Properly handle solvents, chemicals, and other hazardous materials
• Use required vision, hearing, respiratory, and other PPE
• Follow proper lifting and material-handling procedures

What You Need to Have:

The Musts:

• Proven CNC machine setup and operation experience
• Experience performing complex setups and changeovers
• Ability to work with tight tolerances and complex geometries
• Experience with CNC machine tools and automated equipment
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications
• Strong understanding of precision measurement and quality inspection
• Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and programming issues
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Ability to work safely around machinery, chemicals, and hazardous materials
• Understanding of OSHA and Lockout/Tagout safety requirements
• Ability to work independently and make adjustments to maintain quality and production requirements

Preferred:

• Fanuc control experience
• Allen-Bradley control experience
• 4-axis milling experience
• Robotic loading or industrial robot experience
• CNC or robot programming experience
• Experience with grinders, polishers, presses, or automated assembly equipment
• Experience training machine operators
• Experience working with hazardous materials and hazardous waste procedures
• Experience recommending and implementing process improvements

Hazardous Waste & Safety Responsibilities:

• Follow all company procedures and regulatory requirements for handling, storing, labeling, and disposing of hazardous waste
• Comply with applicable federal, state, Oregon DEQ, and local hazardous-material regulations
• Maintain proper documentation and labeling for hazardous materials and containers
• Use appropriate PPE when handling hazardous substances
• Immediately report spills, unsafe conditions, or hazardous-waste incidents to the EHS team
• Participate in required hazardous waste and safety training
