Washington County is seeking an Operator I to assist in the construction, improvement, and maintenance of county roads. The role involves operating road department equipment such as dump trucks, loaders, and graders, and maintaining the parts inventory and shop facilities.

Under supervision, you will support radio communications and tool upkeep while adhering to safety and security requirements, including background checks and drug testing as needed.

Qualifications

• Must pass criminal background check.
• Must pass federally mandated security clearances where required.
• Subject to pre-employment, random drug and reasonable suspicion testing.
• If a promotional position, candidate must pass an assigned drug test.

Job Summary:

Under the general supervision of the Job Supervisor or the Road Superintendent, the incumbent primarily performs labor tasks in the construction, improvement, and maintenance of county roads. Also, operates road department equipment including dump trucks, loaders and graders. The incumbent is responsible for the procurement and maintenance of the parts inventory, assist with two-way radio communications, and maintain the physical condition of the shop building. The incumbent is responsible for the maintenance of assigned tools and equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
