Job summary

MILL ROCK PACKAGING INC. is seeking a Folder/Gluer Operator for the Finishing Department on 1st shift (4am-2pm, M-Th). You will set up and run folder/gluer machines, ensure carton quality, and enter job data accurately into our Radius system.

You must read English work instructions, work with precision, and collaborate with QA and supervisors to resolve issues. Competitive pay and strong benefits offered.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; or 3-5 years of folding equipment experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and comprehend work instructions in English.
  • Basic math skills for measurements and calculations.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving abilities.
  • Willingness to work overtime and meet production goals.

Responsibilities

  • Read and understand work instructions on tickets and job bags.
  • Follow production schedule and operate folder/gluer machines to meet specs.
  • Locate stock, load, and stack materials to support machine efficiency.
  • Perform quality checks and report non-conforming cartons to Finishing Manager.
  • Complete TPM tasks and communicate issues with the Finishing Lead or Manager.

As a Folder/Gluer Operator in the Finishing Department, you will be responsible for setting up and operating folder/gluer machines to produce cartons that meet customer specifications and quality standards. This role involves maintaining equipment, monitoring and tracking the production schedule, communicating special instructions to team members, and accurately entering job information into the Radius system.In addition, the Folder/Gluer Operator is responsible for identifying, communicating, and helping resolve quality issues in collaboration with QA and the Finishing Lead or Manager.What’s in it for YOU?Competitive Pay: $23-$26 per hourSafety-First, People-First CulturePaid Time Off (PTO): Vacation and sick time plus observed company holidays401K Employer ContributionsShort and long-term disability optionsLife InsuranceAnd more!What will you do in this role?Read and understand work instructions in job ticket/job bag.Follow production schedule.Perform a wide range of duties that include locating stock, loads, loading and stacking according to size, shape, quantity to support machine efficiency.Keep the machine and surrounding area clean and free of debris or workplace hazards.Perform weekly/monthly TPM tasks and report any broken or worn parts on folder gluer machines to lead/managers.Operate the folder/gluer machine to produce products that conform with Millrock's quality specifications.Work around equipment and use tools to set up the folder/gluer machine.Run initial quantities after setting up the folder/gluer machine to demonstrate production capability.Perform quality checks as required and report non-conforming cartons to Finishing Manager when discovered.Responsible for meeting monthly and quarterly efficiency goals by exceeding established production and quality standards.What does it take to be successful in this role?Basic RequirementsLanguage Skills – Ability to read and comprehend instructions in English. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.Mathematical Skills – Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measurement using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.Reasoning Ability – Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving concrete variables in standard situations.Computer Skills – Basic computer skills are required to read work instructions, record job data, follow work schedule, and communicate via emailTechnical Capacity. While these qualifications are preferred, they’re not required:High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or 3-5 years of consistent experience working with folding equipment and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Folding carton and SFL (Single Face Laminate) carton industry experience.The physical requirements and work environment:Physical DemandsStanding/Walking: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 10 hours per shift).Lifting/Carrying: Regularly lift and move materials up to 45 lbs.Repetitive Motions: Frequent use of hands and arms for machine operation and material handling.Visual/Manual Requirements: Ability to read gauges, measure materials, and perform quality checks.Environmental ConditionsTemperature: Work performed in a manufacturing environment with seasonal temperature variations.Noise Level: Exposure to moderate to high noise levels; hearing protection provided.Safety Gear: Personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, gloves, and steel-toe shoes required.Other Factors: Occasional exposure to dust, ink, or chemicals used in production.Schedule & Work HoursThis is a full-time, on-site position working 1st shift (4am-2pm Monday through Thursday).
