Job summary

Miller Pipeline is seeking an Equipment Operator to join our team in the Denver area. This role focuses on digging, back-filling, trenching, and installing underground utilities while maintaining safety and quality standards.

You will operate heavy equipment, perform routine maintenance, and ensure accurate location assessments before starting underground work. Travel within the Denver metro area is required, with benefits and growth opportunities offered by Miller Pipeline.

Qualifications

  • Operator's apprentice program or equivalent experience operating heavy equipment.
  • Ability to travel around the Denver metropolitan area.
  • Must pass computer-based testing, specific to the local Customer’s operator qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • Dig trenches, back-fill, and excavation work.
  • Install underground cable and conduit as well as overhead cable.
  • Operate tractor; attach and adjust machinery; monitor depth and alignment.
  • Grease, oil, and perform minor repairs on equipment; maintain maintenance records.
  • Assess the area to determine if utilities were properly located before digging.
  • Move vehicles for hauling.

We are accepting Equipment Operator applications on an ongoing basis for both natural gas work & wet utilities. Successful candidates must be able to communicate effectively, have prior work experience with operating heavy equipment, and have knowledge of underground utilities.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Digging, filling, back-filling, grading or other excavation work including trenches, pits or tunnels
  • Distinguishes between properties, types and moisture content of soils
  • Installation of underground cable and conduit as well as overhead cable
  • Fasten attachments to tractor with clevis or wedge pin hitches.
  • Connect hydraulic hoses, belts, mechanical linkage, or power takeoff shaft to tractor to provide power to raise, lower, or tilt attachments.
  • Move levers to control tool bars, carriers, and disks.
  • Move levers and depress pedals to maneuver tractor and raise, lower, and tilt attachment to clear right-of-way.
  • Feel lever and listen for stalling action of engine to estimate depth of cut.
  • Grease, oil, and perform minor repairs on equipment.
  • Maintain all appropriate maintenance records.
  • Assess the area to determine if the utilities were properly located prior to performing the underground work.
  • Review the terrain to determine the best method to perform the job.
  • Operate vehicles for hauling.

Required Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of an operator's apprentice program or equivalent experience operating heavy equipment
  • Ability to travel around the Denver metropolitan area
  • Valid driver`s license.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must pass computer-based testing, specific to the local Customer’s operator qualifications.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)

Pay Range: $35.39 - $36.59/hr
