Job summary

Primoris Services Corporation's Operator Dominion in Sterling, VA seeks an experienced heavy equipment operator to support construction and utility projects. You will operate excavation, backfill, trenching, and material handling equipment on site while following safety guidelines.

You will perform pre-operation checks, read blueprints and grade stakes, communicate with supervisors, and help maintain a clean, organized work area.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3–5 years of experience operating heavy equipment in construction or utility settings.
• Ability to safely operate multiple types of heavy equipment.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; CDL may be required for certain roles.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints, schematics, and construction plans.
• Strong safety knowledge and ability to work independently or on a team.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment including excavators, backhoes, dozers, trenchers, loaders, and compactors safely.
• Conduct pre-operation safety checks and routine maintenance on assigned equipment.
• Read blueprints, grade stakes, and project documents for accurate execution.
• Dig trenches, excavate foundations, and grade terrain per specifications.
• Load/unload materials using appropriate equipment and maintain a clean work area.
• Follow safety policies, regulations, and communicate with site personnel.
• Assist with manual labor as needed and report major issues to maintenance.
