Job summary

Abbott Tool in O’Fallon, MO is seeking an Inspector Machine Operator to inspect and package manufactured parts and to operate resistance welders on a full-time basis. The role includes loading fixtures, ensuring material availability, and submitting first offs to QA for approval.

You will read blueprints, perform basic measurements with calipers and micrometers, and adjust welders or fixtures to meet blueprint specs.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or GED preferred; or 1–3 months of related experience or training.
  • Reads and interprets documents such as safety rules, instructions and manuals.
  • Adds, subtracts, multiplies and divides; understands blueprints.
  • Ability to understand written or verbal instructions.

Job Summary

Inspection and packaging of manufactured parts. Some machine operation including resistance welders.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Performs visual inspection and packaging of components and manufactured parts.
  • Assembles, installs and aligns fixtures or assemblies according to specification.
  • Ensures the required parts and materials are available.
  • Load & unload fixtures making the necessary adjustments.
  • Submits first off sample to QA for approval.
  • Adjusts welder or fixture, if necessary, to make part to blueprint specification.
  • Perform basic measurements and monitoring with caliper, micrometer, scale & gauges.
  • Other duties as required.
Qualifications

To achieve success as an Inspector Machine Operator, each essential duty must be performed. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these duties. The minimum requirements, knowledge, skills and abilities necessary for this job are as follows:

Education and Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is preferred; or, one to three months of related experience and/or training; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Comprehension/Communication skills: Reads and interprets documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedural manuals; fills out production and shipping reports and labels.

Mathematical Skills: Adds, subtracts, multiplies and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals; understands and reads blueprints.

Reasoning ability: Understands written, verbal or diagrammed instructions.

Physical Requirements: Frequently walk or stand for long periods of time for up to 10 hours a day. Ability to use hands/fingers to handle, feel, and reach. Occasionally bend, stoop, crawl, or kneel. Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force to regularly lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. If greater than 50 lbs, will require assistance or the use of lifting equipment.

Job Type: Full-time

$18.00 per hour for 1st shift 6am to 4:30pm.
$19.50 per hour for 2nd shift 4pm to 2:30am.

Expected hours: 40 per week. Mon – Th (Friday overtime occasionally available)
