Job summary

North American Stamping Group (NASG) is hiring a Tool and Die Maker in Portland, TN. The role is on-site on the 3rd shift with a 10% shift premium and a $1,000 sign-on bonus after 52 weeks.

Candidates will troubleshoot tooling, interpret prints, and collaborate with engineers to modify tooling and prints as needed. The position requires a High School Diploma or GED, 3+ years in Tool and Die, and familiarity with CAD and basic electronics.

Qualifications

• Required - High School Diploma or GED.
• Preferred - Certified Toolmaker or 5 years experience in Tool and Die field.
• Nice to have - Apprenticeship Program completion.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot tooling problems at presses.
• Interpret prints for tooling modifications and improvements.
• Work with Engineers to create or modify prints reflecting changes.
• Perform preventive maintenance by assignment.
• Maintain clean work areas and assist with spare parts/ supplies.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Work from tool room schedule to ensure that production tooling and equipment is ready to meet customer requirements

• Troubleshoot tooling problems at presses
• Work with all employees to continuously improve quality and production
• Work on production equipment when necessary to maintain production
• Requisition supplies and spare parts for tool room and dies and keep these areas organized
• Maintain clean work areas
• Work with outside tradesman as required
• Available for overtime as required
• Available for training as required
• Suggest methods of improvement (Continuous Improvement Plan)
• Interpret prints for tooling modifications, accuracy, &/or improvements
• Work with Engineers to create &/or modify prints to reflect changes
• Perform Preventive maintenance by assignment
• Willing to accept other additional job duties from next level leader

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

Education:

• Required - High School Diploma or GED
• Preferred - Certified Toolmaker or 5 years experience in Tool and Die field
• Would be nice - Apprenticeship Program completion

Experience and skill requirements:

• Minimum 3 years Tool and Die maker
• Self-motivated, self-directed and able to make and meet specific goals in the Tooling Department
• Willing to learn or possess computer skills including, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and CAD
• Willing to learn simple electronics for sensor program assistance

Language Skills:

Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language (English).

Training:

• TQPS Continuous Improvement training
• Mistake Proofing Philosophy, Forklift Certification
• Overhead Crane Certification

WORK ENVIRONMENT/CONDITIONS

Plant: Experience in various types of manufacturing environments.

Travel: Minimal
