Job summary

Sotera Health Company is seeking an Operator to monitor sterilization processes, move products through the facility, and maintain safe operation of equipment in our Utah facility. The role requires a high school diploma, ability to lift 50 pounds, and forklift experience. Fluency in English and basic math are essential; shift work is required.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 6 months to 1 year of sterilization experience preferred.
  • Must read, write and speak fluent English.
  • Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions and decimals.
  • Must be willing to work established shifts.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds and perform repetitive bending and lifting motions over a period of time.
  • Must have forklift driving experience.
  • Computer skills desired.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor sterilization system including observing pressure, temperature and relative humidity on charts or monitors.
  • Move product through the facility at the appropriate times.
  • Turn valves and adjust controls to ensure safe operation of equipment.
  • Observe sterilizers and auxiliary units to detect malfunctions and assist with repairs.
  • Document and record process readings.
  • Report damaged product to the Shift Supervisor or Process Supervisor.
  • Report system problems to the Maintenance Supervisor or Maintenance Technician.
  • Perform some daily and weekly equipment preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Store and remove chemicals used in processing per procedures and laws.
  • Participate on plant safety committees and follow safety rules.
  • Assist with other tasks as assigned by Supervisor.
  • Supervision given: Oversees the work of Process Assistant Operators.

Reporting to the Process Supervisor or Manager Operations, the Operator is responsible for monitoring the system which includes observing pressure, temperature and relative humidity measurements on charts or computer monitors. Ensures that product is moved through the facility at the appropriate times.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of six (6) months to one (1) year of experience working in a sterilization environment desired.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak fluent English.
  • Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions and decimals.
  • Must be willing to work established shifts.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds and perform repetitive bending and lifting motions over a period of time.
  • Must have forklift driving experience.
  • Computer skills desired.
Special Requirements
  • Experience with a company using EO sterilization of products is desirable
  • Must be medically approved for respirator use
  • Must be able to tolerate exposure to high temperatures and high humidity (120F and 60% RH for 20 minutes)
