Job summary

RDR is seeking an Operator in Ohio to join the Utility Line Installation and Maintenance Division. The role involves safely digging, exposing live lines, and trench work under supervision, with emphasis on safety and coordination with the crew.

Responsibilities include inspections, reporting, and equipment upkeep, with possible final dress work using the excavator. Must have hands-on experience operating a mini excavator and be able to work outdoors in varying weather.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience operating a mini excavator.
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
• Ability to work outside in varying weather conditions.
• Physical endurance to stand for long periods and perform labor duties.

Responsibilities

• Safely dig and expose live utility lines without damaging other utilities in the area.
• Dig with guidance from ground spotter.
• Identify soil conditions and slope/bench trenches for safety.
• Install trench boxes when trench entry is unsafe.
• Assist other crew members as needed.
• Perform daily pre-operation inspections and complete equipment checklist logs.
• Report issues to Foreman and/or Supervisor.
• Maintain cleanliness of equipment and perform routine field maintenance.
• Follow all safety policies and coordinate with crew and supervisors.
• Troubleshoot basic mechanical issues and maintain situational awareness.
• Perform labor duties as needed.
• Final dress work with excavator preferred.

Job Summary

• Safely dig and expose live utility lines without damaging other utilities in the area.
• Dig with guidance from ground spotter.
• Identify soil conditions and properly slope or bench trench to ensure safety of employees while working in trench.
• Install trench boxes in trench when conditions prevent safe trench entry to ensure employees are safe while working.
• Assist other employees as needed.
• Perform daily pre-operation inspections and complete equipment checklist logbooks.
• Report issues to Foreman and/or Supervisor.
• Maintain cleanliness of equipment and perform routine field maintenance as needed
• Follow all RDR safety policies and requirements.
• Communicate and coordinate effectively with crew members and supervisors.
• Basic troubleshooting skills and ability to identify mechanical issues.
• Strong situational awareness and ability to work safely around crews and equipment.
• Perform labor duties as needed.
• Final dress work with excavator preferred.
