Job summary

Roto-Rooter Plumbing and Drain in North Canton, OH is seeking an Excavation Equipment Operator with hands-on experience in mainline sewer excavation and underground utility work. You will operate excavation equipment safely and efficiently while protecting existing utilities.

The ideal candidate has experience performing sewer excavations, familiarity with OSHA trench safety, and a solid track record maintaining equipment and working with crews to complete jobs safely and on time.

Qualifications

• Experience performing mainline sewer excavations and associated repairs.
• OSHA Competent Person training and trench safety experience.
• Proficiency operating excavators and other excavation equipment.
• Experience around buried utilities (electrical, gas, fiber, water, sewer).
• Ability to follow trench safety procedures and company OSHA standards.

Responsibilities

• Operate excavation equipment for sewer line repairs/replacements.
• Safely excavate around underground utilities.
• Assist with trench preparation, shoring, backfilling.
• Maintain equipment and perform daily inspections.

Description

Roto-Rooter Plumbing and Drain is seeking an experienced Excavation Equipment Operator with a strong background in mainline sewer excavation and underground utility work. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience operating excavation equipment safely and efficiently, particularly when working around existing underground utilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate excavation equipment for residential and commercial sewer line repairs and replacements.
• Safely excavate around existing underground utilities.
• Assist with trench preparation, shoring, and backfilling.
• Follow OSHA excavation safety requirements and company procedures.
• Maintain equipment and conduct daily equipment inspections.
• Work with excavation crews to complete jobs efficiently while maintaining high safety standards.

Requirements

• Experience performing mainline sewer excavations, repairs, and replacements.
• OSHA Competent Person training and practical trench safety experience.
• Proficiency operating excavators and other excavation equipment.
• Experience working around buried utilities, including electrical, natural gas, fiber-optic, water, and sewer lines.
• Strong understanding of trench safety, soil classifications, shoring, and protective systems.
• Ability to identify underground utility markings and follow safe excavation procedures.
• Ability to work independently and as part of an excavation crew.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
