Thomas Company, a boutique capital markets brokerage specializing in single-tenant net lease investment sales, credit tenant lease and zero cash flow structures, sale-leasebacks, and 1031 exchange advisory.
We are small on purpose and we work on high-profile, complex transactions. Corporate headquarters sales, port and industrial infrastructure, and nine-figure net lease assets. The kind of deals that make the trade press and that most brokerages in this space never touch. Our team has sold the corporate headquarters of Commonwealth Edison, UBS and Kinder Morgan, and closed the Volkswagen Gulf Coast Vehicle Terminal at over $138 million.
We are not a volume shop. There is no queue here and no file that belongs to nobody. Every deal is large enough that the details matter and few enough in number that you will know all of them by name.
One person to run operations for this firm and to carry every deal from signed letter of intent through closing.
If we were a bigger company we would call this a COO. Licensing, insurance, vendors, systems, the closing process, the marketing calendar, and anything that breaks. It all runs through one seat, and that seat is yours.
You have probably spent years inside commercial closings. Maybe as an escrow officer, where you could see exactly what was about to go wrong and had to stay neutral about it. Maybe as a real estate paralegal or a loan closer, where you did the actual work of getting a deal to the table and somebody else got the credit. Maybe you run the back office of a small firm and have outgrown it. You know what an estoppel is, you know what happens when one comes back late, and you have a personal opinion about attorneys who do not return calls.
We want the version of that person who was always a little frustrated by the boundaries of the seat.
Someone who solves problems instead of returning them. The person who thrives here gets handed something unfamiliar, works out how to do it, and comes back with it finished or with a recommendation. If your instinct when you hit a wall is to ask how, this is not the seat. With the tools available now there is very little that cannot be figured out by someone willing to figure it out.
You also need real commercial transaction experience. Three years or more coordinating commercial closings, in title and escrow, at a law firm, at a lender, or at a brokerage. If you can tell us about a time you went over someone's head to save a deal, we want to hear from you.
You must be reachable during business hours. Core hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Mountain, and we mean reachable during them, because deals move during the day. This is a full-time, fully remote position and we are hiring in the Mountain, Central and Eastern time zones.
And you need the kind of eye that notices when a number does not tie. You will be the last person to look at a comp set or an offering memorandum before a buyer does.
No real estate license is required.
If you are not sure you tick every box, apply anyway and tell us what you do have. Some of the best people in this line of work do not have polished resumes.
