Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of five years of commercial nuclear or military nuclear operations experience.
  • Demonstrated mechanical systems experience and troubleshooting capability.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required site access authorizations and security clearances.
  • Ability to work in radiologically controlled areas and utilize required PPE.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Ability to operate computers and electronic work management systems.
  • Willingness to complete required certifications, including Emergency Coordinator qualification.
  • Ability to work overtime and varying work schedules.

  • Work with minimal supervision and exercise independent judgment.

Job Description Summary In this role, you are part of a team responsible for safe operations at GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy’s Morris Operation facility (MO), a commercial nuclear waste storage facility.

You will be assigned to a rotating shift, and independently conduct various operating, maintenance, and nuclear safety activities.

Responsibilities
  • Uphold GEH Morris’ nuclear safety culture, where work is performed with an overriding priority on integrity, safety, security and quality.
  • Perform rounds, monitor facility and equipment to ensure compliance and safe operation.
  • Independently conduct various operating, maintenance, and nuclear safety assignments.
  • Operate equipment/systems, including chiller, filtration, ventilation, and electric plant.
  • Perform equipment repair and preventive maintenance.
  • Operate radiological survey equipment, perform area radiological surveys and decontamination work, maintain radiological reports, logs, and records.
  • Operate forklifts, cranes, and other heavy equipment, as needed.
  • As back shift emergency coordinator, take initial actions to stabilize site during off-normal conditions.
  • Maintain shift status reports, logs, and records.
  • Ensure compliance with all compliance, safety and quality regulations through use of procedures, compliance calendars, databases and tracking systems.
  • Must work with minimum supervision, exercising independent judgment relative to techniques and methods pertinent to assigned area of responsibility.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of five years of commercial nuclear or military nuclear operations experience.
  • Demonstrated mechanical systems experience and troubleshooting capability.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required site access authorizations and security clearances.
  • Ability to work in radiologically controlled areas and utilize required personal protective equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Ability to operate computers and electronic work management systems.
  • Willingness to complete required certifications, including Emergency Coordinator qualification.
  • Ability to work overtime and varying work schedules as required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Pump and valve maintenance experience.
  • Industrial HVAC maintenance and troubleshooting experience.
  • Health Physics or Radiological Controls experience.
  • Knowledge of fluid systems and plant operations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently in a highly regulated environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

The weekly pay for this position is 2,067.28 USD. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.
