Job summary

Wecom Fiber is seeking an Operations Technician for Prescott, AZ to install and maintain fiber optic infrastructure both outdoors and indoors. You will run fiber, Cat5/6 cabling, mounting wall jacks, ONT activation, and assist customers with basic troubleshooting.

The role requires strong technical aptitude, clear communication, and the ability to work in varying weather. You will engage in hands-on installation, adherence to safety policies, and teamwork to meet schedules.

Responsibilities

Job Summary

The Operations Technician is responsible for both outdoor and indoor installation of fiber optic infrastructure, supporting the delivery of reliable, high-quality service to our customers. This role includes hands-on field work such as trenching, aerial installation, and connecting fiber optic networks, as well as in-home installations including running fiber, Cat5/6 cabling, mounting wall jacks, and installing and activating Optical Network Terminals (ONT). This is a customer-facing role requiring strong technical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and the ability to clearly communicate with customers during installation and troubleshooting.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform outdoor installation of fiber optic cable, including trenching and aerial work

• Must have or be able to obtain work boots meeting ASTM F2413 ANSI standards prior to start

Preferred

• 1-2 years of experience in telecommunications, fiber installation, or low-voltage work
• Experience with in-home installations (fiber, cable, satellite, or similar)
• Familiarity with Cat5/6 cabling, routers, or ONT equipment
• OSHA 10 certification
• First Aid / CPR certification
