Job summary

Gateway Fiber in Kansas is seeking a Fiber Optic Installation Technician to inspect, deploy, and connect fiber networks for homes, businesses, and enterprises. You will terminate cables, install connections, document configurations, and audit completed work to ensure high quality and reliability.

This role requires a HS diploma, valid driver’s license, physical ability to lift 40–60 pounds, and readiness to work in varying conditions; vocational training or apprenticeship is a plus, as is

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Vocational training or apprenticeship is preferred.
  • Valid Class E driver’s license is required.
  • Physical ability to lift 40–60 pounds for up to eight hours daily.
  • Ability to travel to job sites by vehicle.
  • Knowledge of wireless networking and TCP/IP is a plus.

  • Provide excellent customer experience with Gateway Fiber network.
  • Complete troubleshooting and repairs before closing work orders.
  • Notify dispatch about issues and assist with repairs.

Fiber Optic Installation Technician

Start Date: Immediately

Responsibilities
  • Inspect, connect, and deploy fiber optic network to deliver high‑quality services.
  • Terminate fiber optic cables and augment existing network installations.
  • Install fiber optic connections to homes, businesses, and enterprise buildings.
  • Document network configurations and audit completed construction.
  • Repair damaged infrastructure and deploy additional cabinet/node sites.
  • Provide exceptional customer experience with the Gateway Fiber network.
  • Complete troubleshooting and repair tasks before suspending work orders.
  • Notify dispatch and leadership about issues that impede work and assist with necessary repairs.
Qualifications
  • Arrive on time and maintain dress code and a clean, hazard‑free vehicle.
  • Proven attention to detail and adherence to quality standards.
  • Self‑motivated, able to work independently, and eager to learn.
  • High school diploma or equivalent (required).
  • Vocational training or apprenticeship (preferred).
  • Valid Class E driver’s license (required).
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, and lift 40–60 pounds for up to eight hours per day.
  • Ability to ride in a vehicle for up to four hours per day traveling to job sites.
  • Work in varying temperatures, weather, and construction conditions.
  • Identify and understand standard construction site hazards.
  • Identify colors, shades, and brightness levels accurately.
  • Flexibility to adjust schedule to meet changing job demands.
  • Wireless networking and TCP/IP knowledge (preferred).
