Coshoctonchamber is seeking an Operations Tech to offload trucks, sample, transfer, and filter wastewater, while performing routine lab tests and data entry.

The position requires flexibility to cover shifts, primarily 3:00pm-11:00pm or 11:00pm-7:00am, Monday to Friday, with in-person work and a full-time schedule. Relevant safety and lab procedures are emphasized.

Responsibilities

• Assist in unloading trucks and transferring wastewater throughout the facility.
• Collect samples from tanks, trucks, and lines for lab testing per SOPs.
• Operate control systems, monitor tank levels, and document data.
• Ensure data quality and proper logging in company systems.
• Perform routine maintenance and assist with lab housekeeping duties.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Operations Tech is responsible for offloading trucks, sampling, transferring, and filtering industrial and oil and gas water, and general plant housekeeping and maintenance. Also responsible for conducting sampling and routine lab testing following Standard Operating Procedures. This position requires the employee to be flexible to cover any shift and duties but is primarily MON-FRI 3:00pm-11:00pm or 11:00pm-7:00am.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Must be able to always follow safety policies and procedures. Must be knowledgeable in required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Assists in the unloading of various types of transport vessels and containers throughout the facility.
• Ensure accuracy of internal and external paperwork
• Ability to operate facility’s computer control system, tank levels’ sensors, and pump systems to effectively and efficiently move wastewater through system with documentation in appropriate company logs.
• Collect representative samples from tanks, trucks, containers, flow lines to perform necessary lab testing specific to the sample collected.
• Employee must have the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Employee must have the ability to work with mathematical equations and scientific symbols for the compilation of volumes and levels of constituents.
• Position will ensure that all data is quality controlled to the highest standards and consult with management team members if any potential sources of error are discovered.
• Perform data entry tasks, typing handwritten data into database, communicating any missing information and scanning paperwork.
• Must be able to adapt and learn new technology and work processes.
• Support general equipment maintenance.
• Maintains awareness of supplies and stocks on hand and requests required items in timely manner to maintain plant and laboratory productivity.
• Calibration, routine maintenance, and operation of benchtop and handheld lab equipment and process equipment.
• General laboratory processes, record keeping, administrative and housekeeping duties.
• Other duties and reasonable requests as assigned by Materials Manager and Site Supervisor or member of management.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• High School Diploma Required
• Wastewater treatment and tank farm knowledge is favorable.
• Strong computer skills and working knowledge Microsoft Office Suite. Knowledge of databases is beneficial.
• Laboratory experience is beneficial.

KEY COMPETENCIES

• Have strong interpersonal skills to interact with fellow employees.
• Must demonstrate ability to learn and independently operate equipment such as pumps, valves, gates, mixers, chemical feed, odor control system, processing filters, measuring and control devices, testing equipment, and material handling equipment.
• Accurate entry of data into required spreadsheets and databases.
• Acquire pH measurements, test for flammability, take temperature reading, perform filtering analysis and calculate TSS accurately and efficiently for all samples by following Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). Other lab measurements may be required on an as needed basis.
• Can accurately compute mathematical calculations related to this position.
• Operates, adjusts, and maintains scientific instruments
• Follows good laboratory housekeeping practices.
• Perform various other duties assigned by a manager with little or no supervision.
• Provides accurate information in a timely manner.
• Ability to remain focused when facing distractions and quickly analyze data to take appropriate actions.
