Job description

Operations Technical Program Manager - Electronic Supply Chain, Project Kuiper

Job ID: 2903802 | Amazon Kuiper Manufacturing Enterprises LLC

Project Kuiper is Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite broadband network. Its mission is to deliver fast, reliable internet to customers and communities around the world, and we’ve designed the system with the capacity, flexibility, and performance to serve a wide range of customers, from individual households to schools, hospitals, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in locations without reliable connectivity.

Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

The Kuiper Electronic Supply Chain team is seeking an Operations Program Manager to drive technical manufacturing and supply chain operations for Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBA) destined for our satellites. The successful candidate will manage contract manufacturers' end-to-end production processes while maintaining a focus on quality and delivery requirements.

Key job responsibilities:

  1. Manage contract manufacturers' end-to-end production process for assigned PCBAs
  2. Ensure on-time delivery to meet Kuiper production rate requirements
  3. Drive production planning and execution aligned with cross-functional priorities
  4. Measure, Control and Improve capacity, quality, manufacturing rate/processes, and delivery KPIs at contract manufacturers
  5. Lead technical deep dives to resolve manufacturing blockers and constraints
  6. Balance development and engineering needs to minimize production impacts
  7. Implement continuous improvement initiatives to optimize production efficiency
  8. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and mitigate supply chain risks
  9. Develop and maintain supplier performance metrics and reporting systems

A day in the life:
As an Operations Program Manager at Kuiper, you'll start your day reviewing upcoming deliveries, blockers and constraints, production metrics and WIP status across your assigned contract manufacturers. You'll participate in daily production meetings to address, update and escalate immediate issues and coordinate with cross-functional teams' path-to-green to resolve shipments. Throughout the day, you'll analyze production performance data to identify bottlenecks, conduct deep-dive investigations into constraints, and work with suppliers to implement process improvements to ensure production current and future rates and deliveries are met and sustainable.

You might spend time in technical reviews with engineering teams to evaluate new design requirements, impact analysis/trade-offs or travel to supplier sites for hands-on problem-solving and capacity planning. You'll regularly present performance updates to leadership, support Monthly and Quarterly Business Reviews (MBR’s and QBR’s), and collaborate with other program managers to optimize shared production resources. The role requires a balance of tactical execution and strategic thinking to ensure both daily delivery and long-term manufacturing capability needs are met.

About the team:
At Amazon, we embrace our differences and are committed to furthering our culture of inclusion. Our team has a broad mix of experience levels and Amazon tenures, and we're building an environment that celebrates knowledge sharing and mentorship. We operate with high standards and a strong sense of ownership, working backwards from our customers' needs to deliver innovative solutions in satellite manufacturing.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 3+ years of experience in technical program management, operations or supply chain roles
- 5+ years of experience working directly with engineering teams
- Experience managing programs and driving initiatives across cross-functional teams
- Technical understanding of PCBA manufacturing processes and materials, capacity assessments, and quality requirements
- Experience driving continuous improvement activities, and performing Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Correction of Errors (COE).
- Demonstrated ability to use data and metrics to drive decisions, evaluate trade-offs and provide path-to-green options
- Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Experience driving supplier development programs and manufacturing technology transfers
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 50% as required

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management or related field
- Direct experience managing high-complexity electronics contract manufacturers, preferably in aerospace or defense industries
- Demonstrated success in implementing advanced manufacturing processes and quality systems in regulated industries
- Deep expertise in space-grade electronics manufacturing, including familiarity with J-STD-001 Space Addendum, IPC-A-610 Space Addendum, and AS9100 requirements
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification with demonstrated application in electronics manufacturing optimization
- Proficiency in statistical process control (SPC) and design of experiments (DOE)
- Demonstrated experience in lean manufacturing principles and kaizen events
