Job summary

Maersk Logistics & Services USA, Inc. seeks an Operations Agent 1 to manage freight forwarding shipments across multiple modes. The role emphasizes high-level operations excellence and providing a quality customer experience while maintaining station KPIs.

You will track outbound shipments, inspect freight, contract carriers, and communicate statuses to customers and other stations. Strong data entry skills and proficiency with Microsoft products are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in freight/logistics is preferred.
• Ability to work overtime and weekends on-call rotations.

Responsibilities

• Track and trace outbound shipments.
• Inspect outbound freight.
• Coordinate carriers and load tenders.
• Communicate freight status to stations and customers, and update the system.
• Enter shipment data into Transportation Management System (TMS).
• Quote, cost, and invoice international shipments (air, ocean, ground).
• Route domestic air and ground shipments (including Canada).
• Negotiate freight rates and develop carrier relationships.
• Find and develop new logistics opportunities and design carrier solutions.

Job Summary

The Operations Agent 1 is responsible for controlling freight forwarding shipments into and out of the station across various modes of transportation based on customer requests. The primary focus is providing a high-level operations excellence and a quality customer service experience to all customers while maintaining station KPI’s.

Essential Functions

• Tracking and tracing outbound shipments
• Inspecting outbound freight
• Contracting new carriers as needed and assigning carriers and providing load tenders
• Communicating freight status and any problems to other stations and customers, and updating the system
• Provide customer service
• Able to work overtime and weekend on call rotations.
• Data entry of shipments into transportation management system
• Quoting, costing and invoicing of international shipments, air, ocean and ground
• Domestic air and ground routing (including Canada)
• Contract new carriers
• Negotiate Freight Rates
• Develop collaborative carrier relationships
• Assigning carriers and providing load tenders
• Find and develop new logistics/freight opportunities and design carrier solutions for other Pilot offices and external customers

Skills/Competencies

• Multi-tasking while maintaining precise attention to detail
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Must be able to type 35+ words per minute
• Must be able to work in demanding, high-volume environment, particularly with email and calls

Pay Range

$22.00 - $24.00

The above-stated pay range is the anticipated starting salary range for the position. The Company may adjust this range in light of prevailing market conditions and other factors such as location. The Company will work directly with the selected candidate(s) on the final starting salary in accordance with all applicable laws.
