Job summary

HuFriedyGroup is seeking an Operations Supervisor in Northbrook, IL to lead machining operations and drive a Lean, performance-focused shop floor culture. You will ensure delivery of SQDC objectives through standard work, waste elimination, and employee development.

Responsibilities include leading daily SQDC meetings, coaching teams, enforcing safety, and coordinating improvements across departments. 5+ years in manufacturing with leadership experience and ERP/MRP familiarity are preferred.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of manufacturing experience with 2+ years in a supervisory role.
• Lean or continuous improvement exposure.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, GD&T.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
• Experience in safety compliance and incident response.
• Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and KPI tracking.
• Flexible, autonomous; able to decide independently on off-shift.
• CNC Machining experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop a shop floor culture aligned with SQDC and standard work.
• Lead daily SQDC board meetings and communicate metrics.
• Monitor production floor for safe operations and incidents.
• Provide actionable feedback on performance, safety, and improvements.
• Drive employee engagement with Lean practices and a positive environment.
• Act as first contact for safety, quality, delivery, and cost on shift.
• Coordinate countermeasures and longer-term improvements.
• Support Lean initiatives including Kaizen, TPM, cross-functional Lean committees.
• Participate in hiring and onboarding to meet demand.
• Assess skills and training needs; coach and take corrective action.
• Collaborate with QA, HR, Planning and others for smooth shift transitions.
• Track and report KPIs; update SQDC boards.
• May oversee other departments during absences.
• Support customer quality audits and drive corrective actions.
