Metalico Buffalo Inc. is seeking a Supervisor Trainee to learn the metal recycling business from the ground up. The role focuses on supervising, guiding, and influencing day-to-day operations at the Buffalo location, with a plan to grow profits, reach quality goals, and lead a team.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Minimum 2 years in operational management training preferred.
• Heavy equipment skills (forklift, skidsteer, loader) a plus.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word).
• Willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment and communicate with customers.
• Ability to work full weeks with optional Saturdays.

Responsibilities

• Support operations management to maintain a safe, organized facility.
• Suggest ways to maximize profits, meet quality standards and set goals.
• Assess safety and environmental needs and advise the Assistant General Manager.
• Review and improve the quality of finished products with the manager.
• Ensure adherence to customer specs and help expand margins.
• Train Yard staff on operating and maintaining equipment.
• Understand processing operations and advise on material flow.
• Develop Standard Operating Procedures and implement with the manager.
• Conduct business professionally and respond to customers.
• Handle disputes promptly, protecting company and customer interests.
• Manage day-to-day duties and set daily assignments for yard/plant staff.
• Ensure efficient use of company assets and meet customer needs.
• Follow Metalico Code of Business Conduct and participate in training.
• Plan capital needs and optimize space for inventory.
• Identify and develop future leaders; perform other duties as assigned.
