ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist with all aspects of operations including event coordination, building maintenance, engineering, audio/visual services, grounds maintenance, ice maintenance, event staffing, setups and changeovers (changeovers will be supervised by this position), building security, fire and life safety and customer service.

Supervise operations staff. Responsibilities include training employees; assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Prepare ice for all ice events. Duties include: removing debris; checking ice depth; edging and resurfacing ice. Oversee and direct employees who assist with installation and maintenance of ice. Train staff on all laws, codes, ordinances, policies that conform to corporate standards, procedures, risk management, safety precautions, rules/regulations and emergency procedures.

Review quantity and quality of work performed. Investigate, analyze, and resolve operational problems and complaints. Act as a liaison with tenants, contractors, and facility users as needed. Maintain equipment and inventory. Report irregularities, discrepancies, damage or loss of property or any other safety concerns to Manager. Monitor all clock‑ins/outs and assigned breaks. Oversee personnel and perform various duties to ensure that the day‑to‑day operations of the facility are met. These include but are not limited to loading/unloading delivery trucks, transporting trash to proper disposal areas, and maintaining the building's overall appearance. All other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Work extended and/or irregular hours including nights, weekends and holidays, as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

Possess skills and experience in supervising/training personnel, scheduling, time management, and purchasing procedures.

Engage in decision‑making that is generally governed by procedure and guided by policy.

Communicate through verbal, email or written means to supervisors, managers and upper management.

Organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines. Work effectively under pressure and/or stringent schedule and produce accurate results.

Demonstrate knowledge in operational procedures, facility capabilities, industry terminology, event‑related services, and technical requirements for the types of events anticipated at the facility.

Demonstrate knowledge of practices and procedures related to event set‑up and conversions; typical methods and techniques for cleaning and maintaining equipment; and proper use and care of hand and power tools.

Demonstrate knowledge in the practice and procedures related to ice installation preparation and maintenance; typical methods, techniques for maintaining, repairing and building ice.

Maintain an effective working relationship with clients, employees, exhibitors, patrons and others encountered in the course of employment.

Read and comprehend blueprints, drawings, operating and maintenance instructions, and other related materials. Follow oral and written instructions.

Be licensed and insured to operate a motor vehicle in the United States. Possess any licenses; certificates or training required by local, state or national authorities for the operations of the equipment found in the facility, in particular forklift. Remain flexible and adjust to situations as they occur.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

High School diploma or GED, and two (2) years experience and/or training in the public assembly facility industry in a supervisory or management position; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Ability to read words and numbers in printed form and on a computer.

Ability to speak clearly with proper diction.

Walk/stand for extended periods during a shift.

Require the physical ability to push loaded dolly and operate a variety of building service equipment.

Climb stairs and lift to 75 lbs of equipment.

Hearing sufficient to clearly hear voices, alarms, bells, and horns.

Ability to travel by automobile.

Ability to use standard office equipment.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT/CONDITIONS

Majority of work is indoors. At times may require being outside during adverse weather.

May be exposed to a high noise level for extended periods of time, related to event type.

May be exposed to bodily fluids during course of work.

HOURS OF WORK AND TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

This position requires working extended and/or irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
