Operations Specialist – Top Secret Clearance | Virginia Beach, VA

Responsibilities
- Member of a 24/7 support team responsible for overseeing daily operations.
- Work within a rotating watch schedule to ensure project deliverables.
- Monitor and maintain mission and support systems (e.g., generators, HVAC) and use technical tools to resolve issues promptly.
- Oversee IT mission equipment, including servers, clients, routers, switches, and telecommunications cabling.
- Provide basic troubleshooting and act as escalation manager liaison between operations and support elements for rapid restoration.
- Deliver timely updates to customers, senior leadership, and the Program Manager for situational awareness.
- Conduct pass‑down briefings, maintain logs, and present to incoming watch teams; train and mentor junior watch standers.
- Prepare and update operations procedures, initiating ongoing revisions as needed.
- Facilitate routine project status meetings with government project managers and company teams, identifying challenges and proposing solutions.
- Create document deliverables such as Standard Operating Procedures, System Assessments, and Project Status Reports for government submission.
- Instruct personnel on equipment operations, maintenance methods, safe work practices, and administer apprenticeship programs.
- Ensure project deadlines are met and tasks remain within scope.
- Assist in operations and maintenance across an organization, branch, plant, or department, performing complex technical work and directing others.
- Provide frontline and high‑level IT hardware, software, and network support to internal and external clients.
- Respond to technical assistance requests, troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues, and escalate unresolved problems.
- Support core business applications, virtual environments, firewalls, and networking.
- Plan, design, configure, and implement IT hardware and software systems, and monitor and maintain physical and virtual servers, appliances, and applications.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum high school diploma and at least four (4) years of experience working in a team environment.
- Current and active DoD Top Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain TS/SCI.
- Proficiency with modern IT tools and infrastructure technologies.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience acting as an escalation manager liaison between operations and support elements.
- Strong initiative, ability to work within a team, and keep management informed of shifting priorities and challenges.
- Well organized and detail‑oriented.
- Ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
- Willingness and ability to work shifts, overtime, holidays, and weekends as required.
- Capability to establish confidence and credibility with managers and senior-level leaders and foster open communications within teams.
- Experience working effectively in diverse environments, including civilians, military, and contractors.
- Ability to handle multiple issues and assignments concurrently, using judgment and initiative.
- Develop solutions to routine technical problems of limited scope following detailed instructions.
Travel & Passport
- Some overnight stays possible.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
- Prolonged sitting and/or standing, including desk‑based computer work.
- Occasional extended work hours, including evenings or weekends, as needed.
- Work performed in a secure facility where personal electronic devices (including Bluetooth‑ or Wi‑Fi‑enabled devices) may be restricted.
- Physical activities may include bending, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling materials, consistent with established one‑person lift guidelines.
- Use of tools and equipment as required for the role.
- Communication with team members, customers, and stakeholders through verbal and written methods.
- Ability to manage competing priorities, work under deadlines, and maintain attention to detail.
- Interaction with others in dynamic environments, including situations requiring problem‑solving and conflict resolution.
- Compliance with vaccination and medical requirements for TDY/OCONUS roles as per Vaccine Recommendations by AOR | Health.mil.
