Job description

Summary
Provides general direction, guidance, data analysis, and/or operational support to a facility to ensure the implementation and integration of operational and programmatic functions. Provides direction in administering, implementing, and resolving performance, compliance, administrative, or technical programs and issues in direct or indirect support of operations functions including, but not limited to, unusual facility occurrences, internal assessments, external audits, and new program implementation.

You will support facilities that include nuclear and tritium operations at the Weapons Engineering Tritium Facility. The position offers broad exposure to facility operations and the opportunity to see the direct effect of your work.

As an Operations Specialist, you will be expected to meet the following duties.

  • Build productive working relationships with facility, programming, and operational personnel.
  • Coordinate project activities, schedules, deliverables, and action tracking across multiple organizations.
  • Participate in facility and area walkdowns to understand operating conditions and identify ready-made needs.
  • Support assessments and help evaluate whether operational requirements have been effectively implemented.
  • Serve as a central coordination point for facility and programmatic customers.
  • Gather information from subject-matter experts and convert operational needs into practical plans, communications, procedures, and other controlled documents.
  • Research and apply effective practices in operational readiness, process improvement, and procedure development.
  • Help ensure work products meet applicable DOE requirements.
  • Communicate WFO activities and needs through written, verbal, and visual media projects under dynamic conditions.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
  • Microsoft suites and PDM Link within SharePoint
  • Demonstrated experience supporting work in an operational, technical, regulated, or compliance-driven environment.
  • intermediate-level knowledge and experience in coordinating activities, schedules, assessments, or action tracking across multiple stakeholders.
  • intermediate-level knowledge and experience in participating in or supporting facility walkdowns, workplace observations, assessments, or similar field-based activities.
  • Intermediate-level knowledge and experience to understand and apply organizational policies, procedures, and institutional requirements.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and customer-service skills, including the ability to build productive working relationships across different organizations and levels of responsibility.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain complex information clearly to different audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze technical or operational information and convert it into clear, accurate, and usable work products.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and implement DOE Orders and Procedures pertinent to nuclear facility operations
  • Intermediate-level knowledge and experience with working and updating project schedules.
  • Intermediate-level knowledge and experience with our business systems (Oracle, UTrain, PDMLink, etc.).
  • intermediate-level knowledge and experience with process improvement methodologies such as Lean Six Sigma
  • DOE Q Clearance

  2. Work schedule (9/80A or 5-8s or 4-10s) 9/80s or 5/8s
  3. On Call/ OT? None
  4. Any “Deal Breakers” that will cause a candidate rejection? Inability to get a Q clearance, otherwise, nothing I can think of other than education and years of experience required. If they can come preloaded with Technical writing experience that’s great but not needed. No phones, medical devices would require approval, etc. but no deal breakers outsides.
  5. What are your top 3 skills that are desired? Demonstrated ability to understand and implement DOE orders. Intermediate or higher level knowledge of our systems (Utrain, Oracle, etc.) and Technical Writing. Or ability to collaborate effectively
