Summary
  • Production Evaluation Process Review (PEPR) Team Member supporting National Security Complex operations. This position represents Readiness Assurance in conducting systematic evaluations of production activities within Production facilities, ensuring adherence to conduct of operations principles, documented safety analysis requirements, and applicable nuclear safety standards.
  • The PEPR program functions as a critical oversight mechanism for production operations, providing extended field observation and detailed process review beyond routine management observation. The PEPR Team Member will spend significant time observing production processes, reviewing associated procedures and documentation, and providing comprehensive evaluation reports that capture equipment readiness, personnel performance, and operations support activities.
  • This position requires an individual who can balance technical rigor with collaborative engagement, maintain unwavering commitment to nuclear safety, and effectively communicate findings across organizational levels.
Required Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Engineering, Engineering, Physical Sciences, or related technical field OR
  • Equivalent combination of education and directly relevant nuclear operations experience (minimum 10 years)
Experience
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in nuclear facility operations, nuclear engineering, or readiness assurance activities
  • Demonstrated knowledge of DOE nuclear facility operations or equivalent commercial nuclear operations
  • Experience with conduct of operations principles and work control processes
  • Familiarity with nuclear safety documentation including procedures, technical safety requirements, or safety basis documents
Knowledge and Skills
  • Working knowledge of nuclear safety principles including criticality safety, radiological controls, and industrial safety
  • Understanding of documented safety analysis and technical safety requirement implementation
  • Strong observational and analytical skills with ability to identify procedural non‑compliance and process improvements
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical reporting and stakeholder engagement
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and database systems for documentation and reporting
Other Requirements
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DOE Q security clearance (preferred)
  • Ability to pass pre‑employment drug screening and background investigation
  • Must meet site access requirements including medical qualifications
  • Willingness to complete required training including General Employee Training (GET), Radiological Worker Training, and facility‑specific training
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Engineering or related engineering discipline
  • DOE Q clearance or active clearance from another government agency
  • 5+ years of experience in nuclear operations, readiness activities, or assessment programs
  • Experience with NNSA/DOE nuclear facilities
  • Certified Nuclear Operations Professional or equivalent professional certification
  • Previous experience conducting operational readiness reviews, management observations, or performance assessments
  • Familiarity with DOE Orders including O 420.1C (Facility Safety), O 422.1 (Conduct of Operations), and O 426.2 (Personnel Selection and Training)
  • Experience with TOPIC database or similar corrective action/performance improvement tracking systems
  • Knowledge of nuclear weapons complex operations and special nuclear material handling
  • Training or certification in Root Cause Analysis or Human Performance Improvement
