Job description

This position is located in Response and Recovery, Response Directorate, Disaster Emergency Communication Division, Maynard MERS detachment. The ideal candidate for this position will possess an in-depth knowledge of emergency planning and preparedness, organization, functions and authorities. This knowledge is required to recognize emergency situations, alert appropriate authorities, recommend courses of action, formulate responses, and notify appropriate organizations. The qualification requirements listed below must be met by the closing date of this announcement.

To qualify for this position at the GS-12 level, you must possess one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal government, which has equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. Experience may be obtained in the federal government, a state or local government, or private sector, and must demonstrate the following:

  1. Monitoring various government and private sector communications systems to gather and disseminate emergency information; AND,
  2. Utilizing Microsoft computer-based programs to prepare and disseminate reports and informational messages;AND,
  3. Compiling information from a variety of sources to prepare and submit reports to managers and staff and experience operating large Class A vehicles in an emergency response environment.
