Job summary

Leeward Renewable Energy seeks a Site Technician to maintain solar facilities across the United States. You will perform routine maintenance on solar panels, inverters, racking, and tracking systems under supervision, ensuring work is safe and compliant.

You will record activities in CMMS, assist with safety programs, participate in training, handle tools and equipment, and collaborate with Site Leads and higher-level technicians to deliver quality, reliable power in diverse weather.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Basic understanding of electrical systems and mechanical aptitude.
  • Willingness to learn and follow safety protocols and company procedures.
  • Ability to accurately document work activities and follow instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic maintenance on solar panels, inverters, racking, and tracking systems under supervision.
  • Record maintenance activities in CMMS including work orders, updates, and closure.
  • Follow safety protocols and use PPE, lockout/tagout, and safe work practices.
  • Assist in preparing reports on maintenance activities, issues encountered, solutions, and recommendations.
  • Engage in on-the-job training to develop technical skills in solar plant operations.
  • Handle and organize tools, equipment, and materials required for maintenance tasks.
  • Collaborate with Site Lead and higher-level technicians to complete tasks safely and efficiently.
  • Lift, push, pull or carry items up to 50 lbs and work in various weather conditions.

Job Requirements:
  • Routine Maintenance: Perform basic maintenance tasks on solar panels, inverters, racking, and tracking systems under supervision. Ensure all work is conducted safely and in compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Work Order Management: Accurately record all maintenance activities in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), including work order creation, updates, and closure.
  • Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), lockout/tagout procedures, and safe work practices to minimize risks.
  • Reporting: Assist in preparing reports on maintenance activities, including documenting issues encountered, solutions implemented, and recommendations for future work.
  • Learning & Development: Engage in on-the-job training to develop technical skills and knowledge in solar plant operations. Participate in company-provided training programs to advance to higher levels within the solar technician career path.
  • Equipment Handling: Assist in handling and organizing tools, equipment, and materials required for maintenance tasks. Ensure all equipment is properly maintained and stored.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with higher-level technicians and the Site Lead to complete tasks efficiently and effectively. Follow instructions and seek guidance when needed to ensure safe and accurate execution of work.
  • Physical Work: Perform physical tasks such as lifting, pushing, pulling, or carrying items up to 50 lbs. Work in various weather conditions, including heat, cold, and rain.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Basic understanding of electrical systems and mechanical aptitude.
  • Willingness to learn and follow safety protocols and company procedures.
  • Ability to accurately document work activities and follow instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work.
  • Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and communicate effective1ly with team members.
  • Physical ability to perform manual labor and work in various weather conditions.
Physical Demands:
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, or carry items up to 50 lbs.
  • Comfort working in confined spaces and exposed to inclement weather conditions.

The Site Technician will be located onsite at various wind/solar/BESS facilities in the US.

Position requires extended periods of standing and walking.
