Job summary

RTX is seeking an Operations Quality Engineer for the Sensors Operations Quality organization in the United States. The role emphasizes product compliance, customer satisfaction and continuous improvement in hardware quality.

You will baseline factory metrics, lead APQP initiatives, drive corrective actions and coordinate with supplier quality, with eligibility for a DoD Secret clearance and an onsite work arrangement.

Qualifications

We are seeking an Operations Quality Engineer with hands-on hardware quality experience to become a key part of the Sensors Operations Quality organization. Here at Raytheon, our Operations Quality Team assures product and process quality with an emphasis on Product Compliance, Customer Satisfaction and Continuous Improvement.

What You Will Do
  • Baseline factory metrics (Scrap, Rework, FPY, etc.), identify top drivers, forecast future demand for top drivers and identify areas of opportunity for improvement.
  • Engage MFG Defect Prevention teams to ensure alignment on top priorities (using baseline data and future forecast) to drive containment, Root Cause Analysis and associated Corrective Action Implementation.
  • Perform process walks, operator observations, and lead MFG team discussions to drive process enhancements to reduce variation.
  • Lead/Drive Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) initiatives (PFMEA, control Plans, SPC, etc.) using baseline metrics and future demand.
  • Identify supplier escapes/issues and ensure proper containment and backflow to the Supplier Quality Management team.
  • Perform verification and validation of improvements to understand effectiveness. -

Expectations of the role:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of key process characteristics and ability to implement effective process control techniques.
  • Experience with industry technical standards, interpreting drawings, work instructions, Bill of Materials (BOMs), consumable materials control, process disciplines and tool control
  • Strong familiarity with ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 quality management systems

Six Sigma, ASQ Certifications

  • Proficient in the use of pareto analysis, cause/effect diagrams, process mapping
  • Able to facilitate cross-functional teams in systematic improvement activities (e.g. Six-sigma, lean manufacturing)
Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) or other technical field of study, and a minimum of two (2) years related engineering experience
  • Manufacturing process experience in one of the following processes (assembly, inspection, test)
  • Previous experience working in cross functional process improvement teams.
  • Experience in identifying root cause and initiating/implementing effective short-term and long-term corrective actions
  • Experience with quality metrics that may be used to drive true root cause and long-term corrective actions.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications We Prefer:
  • Demonstrated knowledge of key process characteristics and ability to implement effective process control techniques.

This position requires a security clearance. DCSA Consolidated Adjudication Services (DCSA CAS), an agency of the Department of Defense, handles and adjudicates the security clearance process. The salary range for this role is 68,900 USD - 131,100 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
