Advertised Compensation: $120,900.00 to $134,495.00

Purpose

The Operations Performance Controller uses financial and operational analysis to observe, collect, understand, communicate, and report company operational data as measured against key performance indicators. This role conducts operational and financial analysis in support of development and joint‑venture activities, and provides financial and operational support across all lines of business (F&B, Duty Paid and Duty Free).

Essential Functions
  • Implement processes and procedures to track company‑defined financial metrics throughout the area of responsibility; ensure managers focus on maximizing sales and optimizing cost & labor controls.
  • Provide input into development projects by accurately evaluating financial risks and returns of potentially new business opportunities.
  • Partner with branch management to improve performance of every store through daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly reviews—including hours of operations, variance analysis of key KPIs (e.g., TPLH, SPLH, Cost, Labor).
  • Evaluate accounting processes for designated locations and partner with operations management to provide accurate analysis in support of store‑level sales growth and expense reductions/improvements; make appropriate recommendations and guarantee implementation.
  • Maintain the operations control environment by ensuring compliance with all company standards and policies.
  • Train management, support programs, and lead analysis for inventory management, cost‑of‑sales optimization, and labor workforce management optimization; provide training on key performance indicators to strengthen financial and business acumen.
  • Actively review and participate in joint‑venture quarterly meetings; analyze indirect spend to ensure savings are achieved at all levels, including vendor analysis and cross‑utilization of resources between F&B and Duty Paid.
  • Ensure the financial integrity of the operations income statement and balance sheet through weekly, monthly, and quarterly close processes, and appropriate cash‑management reviews and trainings.
  • Drive and partner with branch management on price sweeps, menu/product optimization, zone, capture, and market‑share analysis.
  • Oversee maintenance of internal accounting records; prepare timely area‑management reports.
Reporting Relationship

The Operations Performance Controller reports to the Senior Director/Director of Operations Performance designated to their assigned airports/region.

Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Work Environment
  • Education and Experience (minimum 6+ years)
    • Leadership role: 2 years supervising a team of professionals engaged in executing accounting/financial analysis programs, preferably in a medium to high volume environment.
    • Technical role: 6‑8 years developing and delivering reconciliation of ledger accounts and financial modeling programs.
  • A bachelor’s degree in a program related to the functional area can count for 2 of the 6‑year requirement.
  • An MBA or master’s degree related to the functional area can count for an additional 2 years of the 6‑year requirement.
  • Industry experience: 3‑5 years in Hospitality, F&B, and/or Retail.
  • Specialized Training
    • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including financial modeling skills.
    • Knowledge of relevant state and federal regulations and statutes.
  • Very strong financial acumen; able to understand and teach variance analysis.
  • Ability to build strong relationships and function well in a heavily matrixed organizational environment, and to develop relationships with external partners including joint ventures, sub‑tenants, landlords, and vendors.
  • Prior experience in reading and interpreting contractual agreements is a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills; able to work independently while managing multiple tasks.
  • Business acumen and a mindset to understand the long‑term implications of financial planning to advance organizational goals.
  • Demonstrated history of understanding the needs of the business, stakeholders, employee population, and individual circumstances.
  • Demonstrated history of creating and maintaining positive work environments through coaching, developing, and leading teams to achieve common goals.
  • Location/Travel
    • Regular attendance required at Boston Logan International Airport.
    • Up to 25% travel to locations in the region.
