Job summary

Builders FirstSource, Inc. in Anchorage, AK seeks an Assistant General Manager to partner with the General Manager and lead a team dedicated to outstanding customer service and operational excellence.

The role oversees daily operations across production, purchasing, inventory, delivery and administration while supporting budgeting, training and employee development. This hands-on leader will step in for location leadership in the GM’s absence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Management or related field or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of leadership or operational management experience.
• Strong business acumen with budgeting, inventory, operations or sales experience.
• Proven ability to lead, motivate and develop teams.
• Excellent communication, problem‑solving and decision-making skills.
• Proficiency with business management systems.

Responsibilities

• Partner with the General Manager to achieve operational, financial, and sales goals.
• Lead and develop a team committed to exceptional customer service and operational excellence.
• Oversee daily business activities including production, purchasing, inventory control, delivery operations, and administrative functions.
• Support recruiting, hiring, training, coaching, and employee development initiatives.
• Assist with budgeting, expense management, and financial performance analysis.
• Promote a strong safety culture by ensuring compliance with company policies and industry standards.
• Collaborate with department leaders to improve processes, increase efficiency, and drive continuous improvement.
• Step into overall location leadership responsibilities in the absence of the General Manager.
