Job summary

BakeMark is seeking an Operations Manager to lead all warehouse and transportation activities, ensuring efficient use of equipment, facilities and personnel. The role drives operational excellence, inventory accuracy, food safety, customer satisfaction, and staff development in a compliant environment.

Key duties include reporting to GM, optimizing staffing, managing projects, maintaining inventory controls, and leading safety and security programs.

Qualifications

• Leadership and people-management capabilities.
• Experience running warehouse, distribution, transportation, and inventory operations.
• Knowledge of food safety, OSHA, DOT, and warehouse best practices.
• Experience with budgeting, operational reporting, and performance management.
• Ability to lead teams, manage multiple priorities, and drive continuous improvement.
• Union workforce experience preferred where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Provide clear reporting on GM and performance, identify deficiencies and improvement opportunities.
• Oversee warehouse and transportation operations to ensure efficiency and service excellence.
• Review performance against budget and coordinate corrective actions with Branch GM.
• Analyze sales and demand to plan staffing and resources in warehousing operations.
• Plan and manage operational projects, schedules, and initiatives.
• Review periodic reports and implement actions to improve performance.
• Maintain inventory control per BakeMark standards and Best Practices.
• Ensure warehouse facilities and equipment are clean, safe, and well-maintained.
• Coordinate maintenance, vendor selection, and service agreements for equipment.
• Recommend capital investments to boost efficiency and customer service.
• Lead food safety, food defense, and facility security programs per standards.
• Promote a safe work environment, investigate incidents, and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and safety requirements.
• Address customer and carrier concerns and drive service improvements.
• Respond promptly to customer inquiries and requests.
