To overcome today’s biggest health challenges and accelerate this progress, we need passionate individuals like you. Join our movement, be part of the progress, and help ensure a healthier future for all. You matter, and so does the impact you can make with us.

The American Heart Association has an excellent opportunity for an Operations Manager. The location for this position is remote.

The Operations Manager works closely with the Vice President of Scientific Publishing as well as the 2 Senior Directors of Journal Operations on all Scientific Publishing Awards processes; and coordinates closely with managing editors, the Vice President, and the Senior Directors on all marketing and logistic activities to support both the Association scientific journals and the Association scientific statements and clinical practice guidelines as published by the Association scientific journals.

The Association offers many resources to help you maintain work-life harmonization through your changing needs and life situations. To help you be successful, you will have access to Heart U, our award-winning corporate university, as well as additional training and support, locally.

Responsibilities

  1. Oversee shipment of Scientific Publishing and scientific journals’ collateral to all Association conferences and non-Association conferences where the Association will have an exhibit booth. Coordinate with the publisher for artwork for all support of activities and coordination of booth presence (with publisher as needed, and vendors).
  2. With the Vice President, assist with the Association editor searches and renewals.
  3. Work with the publisher to create collateral and review all journal collateral (digital and physical) for adherence to Association branding guidelines. Coordinate with other Association staff on scientific journals’ collateral and serve as Scientific Publishing liaison with Integrated Marketing as well as other departments (e.g., Association Membership).
  4. Manage all electronic and social media presences of the scientific journals and develop appropriate campaigns, working with the Vice President, Senior Directors of Journal Operations, and managing editors and, most importantly, the publisher; and serve as liaison with rest of the Association for such activity.
  5. Manage all scientific journals’ awards, ensuring documentation is maintained, and oversee awards such as the Joseph Vita award and others.
  6. Oversee the editorial goals process and obtain operational and metric reports a minimum of 2 times per year to support Scientific Publishing Committee meetings, and other reports as requested.
  7. Other duties as assigned to support the scientific journals and scientific statements/clinical practice guidelines programs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.

Three (3) years of the following experience:

  • Strong, and proven project management skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication.
  • Excellent attention to detail and taking responsibility for projects and actions as well as anticipation of next steps is crucial.
  • Appreciation for the creative content, understanding how the scientific journals, the scientific statements, and clinical practice guidelines connect to bigger publishing and Association goals and being able to own those connections and develop new ideas as understanding develops.

Preferred Qualification:

  • One (1) year of experience with social media, marketing efforts, and branding requirements.

Compensation

Expected pay range will be $75,000 to $80,000. Pay is commensurate with experience; geographic differentials to the pay range may apply. The American Heart Association reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range.
