The role of the Operations Manager Trainee (OMT) is to gain an understanding of the skills and company knowledge to independently run a financially viable PDS supported dental office. The OMT is responsible for engaging in and owning their professional development through completing the OM Development Program while being supported by their direct supervisor. This will be done through structured curriculum, on-the-job practical application, and development meetings. The expectation is that each individual will be able to independently manage a dental office within 4-6 months after completing the program.
Responsibilities
- Model company culture, values, standards, and best operational practices based on the We Believe Behavioral Framework; actively learning how to create an environment that promotes PDS culture and values daily.
- Assess, hire, and retain suitable team members through comprehensive training, supervision, counseling, and coaching.
- Investigate and resolve staff and patient issues by analyzing facts to develop effective solutions.
- Execute the PDS Operational Model consistently to meet office imperatives in partnership with the Owner Dentist.
- Drive revenue and profit growth year over year.
- Manage expenses to meet monthly goals and budgets.
- Show proficiency in cash management and accounting protocols.
- Learn to be a catalyst in team development for the Perfect Patient Experience.
- Deliver effective leadership, coaching, and mentoring to identify and implement improvement opportunities.
- Maintain professional appearance and demeanor, addressing others respectfully.
- Gain proficiency with People-related functions such as assessment, hiring, retention, performance evaluation, and compensation.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory bodies.
- Report weekly to the Regional Manager on accomplishments, improvements, and system effectiveness.
- By the end of the program, demonstrate competency in managing a team and developing office protocols.
- Develop and implement an office success plan for efficient operations.
- Perform other duties as assigned to improve team development outcomes.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Five or more years of related operational management experience.
- Valid driver’s license and automobile insurance, or reliable alternative transportation.
- Willingness to travel to multiple offices as required.
Preferred
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree.
- Experience leading and coaching teams.

Work Environment
- Primarily sedentary office work; field visits may be required.
- Low to moderate noise levels; occasional dealing with irate individuals.
- Physical requirements include sitting, standing, walking, and lifting reports/materials under 40 pounds.
