RK Mechanical in Phoenix, AZ, is seeking an Operations Manager to lead business unit operations, drive project performance, and manage staffing and forecasting for complex mechanical construction programs.

You will partner with Project Managers, Superintendents, and leadership to ensure safe, profitable delivery, develop high-performing teams, and guide strategic growth across multiple market sectors.

Qualifications

• 15+ years in mechanical construction or operations leadership.
• Experience leading Project Managers, Superintendents, and operational teams.
• Experience overseeing WIP reviews, cost-to-complete forecasting, budgeting, staffing, procurement, and P&L management.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day operations across business units, project teams, and field operations.
• Develop, mentor, and hold Project Managers accountable for project execution, financial performance, customer satisfaction, and team development.
• Oversee staffing strategies, labor forecasting, workforce planning, and resource utilization.
• Review WIP, cost-to-complete forecasting, productivity metrics, and monthly business performance.
• Monitor project financials, including revenue, margins, billing, change management, cash flow, and profitability.
• Support estimating, preconstruction, procurement, contract review, and project planning efforts.
• Partner with Project Managers, Superintendents, and executive leadership to identify risks, resolve challenges, and drive successful project outcomes.
• Maintain strong relationships with owners, general contractors, engineers, vendors, and industry partners.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, operational efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction.
• Support long-term business planning, strategic growth initiatives, and organizational development.

Operations Managers play a critical role in business performance, providing leadership across project execution, financial results, workforce development, and customer relationships. By aligning field operations, project management, and business strategy, they help ensure projects are delivered safely, profitably, and to the highest standards of quality.

At RK Mechanical, you'll lead business unit operations across industrial, semiconductor, mission-critical, healthcare, manufacturing, and commercial construction projects. Working closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, Preconstruction, and executive leadership, you'll oversee project performance, staffing strategies, forecasting, customer relationships, and operational execution.

What You'll Do

What You Bring

• 15+ years of experience in mechanical construction, operations leadership, project management, or business unit management.
• Experience with mechanical contractors, HVAC contractors, plumbing contractors, MEP construction, process piping, or industrial construction environments.
• Proven experience leading Project Managers, Superintendents, and operational teams.
• Experience leading business-unit performance, including WIP reviews, cost-to-complete forecasting, budgeting, staffing, procurement, and P&L management.
• Experience overseeing large-scale project portfolios, programs, or business units exceeding $50M in annual volume.
• Experience supporting semiconductor, mission-critical, industrial, healthcare, manufacturing, data center, or advanced technology construction projects preferred.
• Strong understanding of project delivery, forecasting, contract administration, risk management, and construction operations.
• Excellent leadership, communication, coaching, and relationship-building skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred.
• Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
