Job summary

WorldBridge Partners - Leaders in Recruiting and Executive Search is conducting a confidential search for operations leaders to oversee plate, hot mill and flat-rolled finishing in a large metals operation in South Central Pennsylvania.

Ideal candidates bring floor-level leadership experience in aluminum, steel or heavy manufacturing, with a track record of improving safety, quality and productivity. Relocation support may be available for select candidates.

Qualifications

• Floor-oriented leaders who engage employees, ensure accountability, and maintain safety and product quality.
• Direct experience with aluminum plate is highly attractive but not essential; steel plate or similar metals ok.
• Minimum three years of manufacturing experience; at least two years in supervision or lead roles.
• Ability to read equipment schematics and engineering drawings; data-driven problem solving.
• Willingness to work outside normal hours when needed; legally authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.
• Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma knowledge; AS400/Oracle experience valued.

Responsibilities

• Lead production teams, shift coordinators and maintenance resources.
• Set operating priorities aligned with safety, quality, production and customer needs.
• Organize and monitor production workflow.
• Coach supervisors and hourly staff to improve performance.
• Schedule staff, track timekeeping and handle personnel matters.
• Ensure environmental, safety and quality requirements are met.
• Investigate incidents, equipment failures and quality issues.
• Implement corrective actions and prevent recurrence.
• Control operating supplies and departmental expenses within budget.
• Lead daily team meetings and encourage employee participation.
• Drive structured problem-solving and continuous improvement.
• Improve equipment capability, process discipline, throughput and schedule attainment.
• Reinforce Lean, Six Sigma and human-performance principles.

OPERATIONS LEADERS - PLATE, HOT MILL & FLAT-ROLLED FINISHING

I am conducting a confidential search for several operations leaders for a large, sophisticated metals-manufacturing operation in South Central Pennsylvania.

We are interested in speaking with production and maintenance leaders from aluminum, steel and other heavy-manufacturing environments. Particularly relevant experience would include:

• Flat-rolled sheet and coil operations


• Mill finishing


• Rolling and finishing lines


• Heat treatment and annealing


• Melt, casting or other continuous-process operations


• Heavy industrial maintenance supporting rolling operations

These positions offer the opportunity to lead cross-functional production and maintenance resources within a technically demanding, safety-sensitive manufacturing environment.

THE RESPONSIBILITY

Depending upon the particular opportunity, responsibilities may include:

• Leading production teams, shift coordinators and maintenance resources


• Establishing operating priorities aligned with safety, quality, production and customer requirements

THE RIGHT CANDIDATE

We are seeking floor-oriented leaders who know how to engage employees, establish accountability and improve results without losing sight of safety or product quality.

Direct experience with aluminum plate would be highly attractive, but it is not essential. Candidates may come from steel plate, hot-strip mills, cold rolling, flat-rolled finishing, coil processing or other comparable metals operations.

Strong candidates should offer:

• At least three years of manufacturing experience


• A minimum of two years of supervisory or project-leadership experience


• Strong team-building, coaching and employee-development skills


• Practical knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment capability


• Experience leading safety, quality, productivity and cost-improvement initiatives


• The ability to read or understand equipment schematics and engineering drawings


• A disciplined, fact-based approach to problem-solving


• The flexibility to work outside normal hours when operating conditions require it


• Legal authorization to work in the United States without visa sponsorship

A bachelor’s degree in engineering, business or another technical discipline is welcomed but not required. Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, AS400, Oracle or related operating systems would also be valuable.

Most importantly, the company is looking for leaders who are visible on the floor, comfortable in demanding mill environments and capable of developing people while improving operating performance.

South Central Pennsylvania provides access to Lancaster, Harrisburg and York, with Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington within reasonable reach. Relocation assistance is available for selected candidates.
