General Summary

The Operations Manager (OM) is responsible for all aspects of the Service Operations Department at one or more assigned locations. As a senior manager, the OM collaborates with Sales, Business Office, and Purchasing teams to create an exceptional associate and customer experience aligned with CarMax culture.

Principle Duties And Responsibilities
  1. Manage team and processes related to vehicle production and servicing.
  2. Utilize reports, analyze information, and monitor trends to identify business opportunities.
  3. Display financial responsibility through P&L management.
  4. Identify opportunities to reduce waste and improve processes for better customer and associate experiences.
  5. Interview, hire, train, and promote associates to support Service Operations and company growth.
  6. Serve as a member of the senior management team; collaborate to set store strategy and provide vision, direction, and motivation.
  7. Implement company and store initiatives for consistent execution.
  8. Resolve customer and associate issues.
  9. Facilitate and participate in meetings and conference calls.
  10. Focus on associate development.
Qualifications

The candidate should have the ability to:

  1. Read, interpret, and transcribe data to maintain accurate records.
  2. Complete CarMax training in Inventory, Cosmetic, and Production processes.
  3. Multi-task effectively in a high-energy, fast-paced environment.
  4. Communicate effectively with customers and associates across departments.
  5. Make independent judgments on critical business decisions.
  6. Identify business opportunities and suggest improvements.
Education And/or Experience
  1. At least 3 years of management experience, preferably in retail management.
  2. Bachelor’s Degree is a plus.
  3. Intermediate computer skills.

Working Conditions
  1. May require walking or standing for extended periods.
  2. Work may involve indoor and outdoor environments, including noisy or inclement weather conditions.
  3. Rotating shifts including nights, weekends, holidays, and 12-hour days.
  4. Occasional travel for meetings, training, and assignments.
  5. Flexibility to work at multiple locations or relocate.
  6. Wearing CarMax clothing at all times while working in the store.
