Job description

Job Title: Operations Manager - Ultra-High Purity Gases

This position oversees the manufacturing of ultra-high purity gases for the Electronics & Specialty Gas industry in New Johnsonville, TN. Responsibilities include establishing and maintaining operational policies, processes, procedures, training, and safe work practices to ensure a motivated and well-trained staff. This role reports directly to the Director of Operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Direct and coordinate plant operations within company policies and procedures.
  2. Lead the safety culture aiming for zero accidents and incidents.
  3. Provide leadership to achieve high safety performance and regulatory compliance.
  4. Establish and oversee plant policies, processes, and procedures.
  5. Maintain equipment and production schedules.
  6. Recruit and train supervisory, manufacturing, and administrative staff.
  7. Manage gas production, including process implementation, infrastructure, budgeting, and costs.
  8. Develop work instructions, process flow maps, and FMEA's.
  9. Implement quality processes with metrics to monitor performance.
  10. Manage production, purchasing, shipping, and inventory activities.
  11. Optimize profitability through expense management, inventory control, and continuous improvement projects.
  12. Support sales activities, customer relations, and contract negotiations.
  13. Coordinate communication within the site and with regional management.
  14. Report operational activities to management promptly.
  15. Manage quarterly inventories.
  16. Conduct employee performance reviews.
  17. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Understanding of gas production, clean room policies, equipment purity, and micro contamination.
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Training in Safety and Compliance (OSHA, DOT, EPA, FDA).
  • Experience in establishing flow rates and throughput.
Language Skills
  • Ability to interpret scientific, technical, financial, and legal documents.
  • Effective communication with customers, employees, and regulatory agencies.
  • Ability to write reports, manuals, and procedures.
  • Ability to present information clearly to diverse audiences.
Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in Business Management or Engineering from a four-year college or university. Five to ten years of related operations management experience, preferably in high purity gas operations within the electronic gas industry, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
