Socket.dev is seeking an Operations Manager to lead the Environmental Contracting Services operations center, overseeing field staff, safety programs, and project execution. The role requires strong communication, leadership, and safety focus, with on-call flexibility and significant time spent in the field to oversee job sites and client relations.

Qualifications

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong PC skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Ability to lead a team of 4-6 direct reports.
  • Valid Driver’s License, Clean MVR and Criminal Background.
  • Flexibility in schedule including weekend and 24-hour on-call status.
  • Strong focus on Safety, Quality, Honesty, Integrity, and Teamwork.
  • 40 Hours OSHA and related Safety Training is a plus.
  • Prior managerial skills in environmental or general contracting.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Field Supervisors to perform Environmental Contracting Services per company standard of operations.
  • Ensure a culture of safety with OSHA regulations and Safety Committee Meetings.
  • Provide accountability and feedback on operational staff performance.
  • Initiate and execute performance improvement plans to meet goals.
  • Monitor controllable operating expenses to ensure profitability.
  • Collaborate with Project Management to define Scope of Services and execute projects per client contracts.
  • Model and promote the company’s core values: Safety, Integrity, Accountability, & Quality.
  • Assist Operations Coordinator in onboarding field employees and safety requirements.
  • Conduct annual performance reviews with feedback, goals, and training plans.
  • Maintain positive client relations by addressing concerns proactively.
  • Spend 30-50% of time in the field monitoring Quality and Safety.
  • Collaborate with Waste Manager to adhere to hazardous/non-hazardous material handling regulations.
  • Develop and participate in monthly operations meetings to promote leadership.
  • Take personal accountability for professional development.

Description
Primary Accountability
  • Responsible for the effective and efficient operations of the Operational Service Center. The Operations Manager will provide leadership and management to the entire field staff assigned to the operations center to ensure that the Company’s policies, procedures, and core values are maintained
Primary Responsibilities Include:
  • Lead Field Supervisors to perform Environmental Contracting Services per company standard of operations.
  • Ensure a culture of safety which is nurtured by ensuring the following: adherence to Company’s Core Values, OSHA regulations, coordination of safety initiatives with the Company’s Director of Health and Safety, and well attended and organized Safety Committee Meetings.
  • Provide accountability and immediate feedback on operational staff performance.
  • Initiate and execute performance improvement plans (PIP) to ensure all field staff meets their performance goals.
  • Monitor all controllable operating expenses, such as labor, materials, and equipment expense, to ensure operations are profitable.
  • Collaborate with Project Management to ensure proper Scope of Services is defined and projects are executed per contracted agreements with clients.
  • Continually strive to role model and steward the Company’s core values: Safety, Integrity, Accountability, & Quality.
  • Assist Operations Coordinator in acclimating new field employees to their roles and responsibilities, safety and work requirements, paperwork, being on-call and other expectations.
  • Conduct annual performance reviews for the Service Center’s Field Staff so that each person has both positive and constructive feedback in addition to a set of goals and training plan for the upcoming operations year.
  • Maintain positive client relations by proactively addressing client concerns whenever possible.
  • Spend 30-50% of time in the field, monitoring Quality and Safety on job sites.
  • Collaborate with the Waste Manager to strictly adhere to all regulations and procedures regarding the handling of Hazardous and Non-Hazardous materials.
  • Develop and participate in monthly operations meetings to promote leadership among the staff.
  • Take personal accountability for professional development so that continuous improvement and learning are apparent.
Expected Results:
  • Maintain a rolling turnover percent of <= 15%.
  • Minimize shop time and improve operational efficiencies throughout the department.
  • Zero Environmental Agency Violations.
  • Zero reportable OSHA injuries.
Requirements
Qualifications:
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong PC skills including the use of Microsoft (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to lead a team of 4-6 direct reports
  • Prone to set high standards and reach goals established by self or others
  • Valid Driver’s License, Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and Criminal Background.
  • Must have flexibility in their personal schedule including weekend and 24 hour on call status.
  • Strong focus on Safety, Quality, Honesty, Integrity, and Teamwork.
  • 40 Hours OSHA and related Safety Training is a plus.
  • Prior managerial skills in environmental or general contracting.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift 60 lbs
  • Ability to wear a respirator
  • Ability to work in severe weather conditions both hot and cold
  • Ability to stand and exert physical effort for extended periods of time
  • Always requires near visual acuity, speaking and listening
  • Frequently requires sitting, standing, walking, grasping and reaching
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other devices and objects.
  • Sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Some travel may be required for the purpose of meeting with clients,
  • Physically able to participate in training sessions, presentations, and meetings.
  • Overtime may be required to meet project deadlines.
Additional Requirements:

Lewis will provide to the employee, a thorough medical exam, enrollment in the company’s random drug and alcohol program, perform 40 hour OSHA CFR 1910.120 Hazwopper training, and various other specific training to perform daily job functions.
