Job description

Benaar is a Los Angeles womenswear brand selling direct to consumer through benaar.com. We design contemporary, everyday pieces for a woman who wants quality and fit without designer pricing, and we release new collections on a monthly drop calendar. Our product is developed in LA and produced with partner factories overseas.

The brand has grown quickly. Our operations now need to catch up: we are building the systems, processes and accountability that let a growing brand ship accurately, handle returns well and know exactly what it has in stock.

The Role:

The Operations Manager keeps Benaar running day to day. All team members on the office floor report to you — the fulfillment team, the E-Commerce Manager and the Marketing Manager — and you make sure every system runs smoothly, procedures are followed, deadlines are met and the office operates well. You don't do every task yourself: you set priorities, hold the team to deadlines and KPIs, and solve problems as they come up.

This role suits a calm, organized problem solver who is as comfortable walking the warehouse floor as building a timeline or tracking KPIs in a spreadsheet.

What You'll Own:
Team leadership and daily operations
  • Make sure the team and operations run smoothly. All team members on the office floor report to you: the Fulfillment & Returns Coordinators, E-Commerce Manager and Marketing Manager.
  • Be the team's problem solver: spot issues early, remove roadblocks and see them through to resolution.
  • Set weekly priorities, run regular one-to-ones and hold each person to clear deadlines and KPIs.
  • Make sure every system has a named owner and runs properly: Shopify, Loop, Gorgias, Klaviyo, shipping software, Basecamp and Zedonk.
  • Make sure SOPs are documented, trained and followed.
  • Keep the office running smoothly day to day, partnering with the Accounting & Office Manager on facilities, supplies and admin.
Calendars, timelines and priorities
  • Create and maintain calendars and timelines for monthly drops, launches, shoots, campaigns and deliveries, coordinated with senior leadership.
  • Make sure the team meets deadlines and priorities; flag slippage early with a plan to recover.
  • Run the weekly team operations meeting and track follow-through in Basecamp.
Fulfillment and returns oversight
  • Oversee the fulfillment and returns team and hold them to KPIs for ship time, order accuracy and returns cycle time.
  • Make sure returns are processed in Loop on time and return reasons are captured; flag fit and quality trends to design.
  • Plan staffing and workflow for launch days, monthly drops and Q4 peak.
Inventory, POs and deliveries
  • Own the inventory process: make sure receiving, barcoding, counts and Shopify stock levels are done correctly and on time by the E-Commerce and fulfillment teams.
  • Oversee PO tracking: open orders, factory ship dates and expected landing dates.
  • Track inbound deliveries from the factory through to receipt.
  • Make sure packaging and supplies are ordered in time so fulfillment never runs short.
  • Flag aged and dead stock with a recommendation.
  • Partner with Accounting on inventory valuation, vendor invoices and freight bills.
Sales and KPI tracking
  • Track sales weekly against plan, by product and channel.
  • Track KPIs for each team: orders shipped, same-day ship %, order accuracy, oversells and backorders, return rate, returns cycle time, inventory accuracy, cost per order, and upload and launch deadlines met.
  • Bring leadership a clear weekly read of results, bottlenecks and recommended fixes.
  • Work closely with our Customer Service Manager to make sure problem orders - shipping delays, errors, damages and return issues - are handled quickly.
  • Spot recurring issues and fix the process behind them.
Vendors and cost
  • Oversee relationships with carriers, packaging and software vendors; hold them to agreed service levels.
  • Manage the operations budget for labor, packaging and supplies, postage and tools, and look for savings.
  • Keep business insurance current and issue COIs to partners as needed.
What You Bring:
  • 6-8 years in operations at an e-commerce or apparel brand, including at least 3 years managing a cross-functional team (operations, e-commerce or marketing).
  • Apparel or fashion experience: you understand styles, SKUs, sizes and colors, and why variant-level accuracy matters.
  • Experience overseeing inventory, purchase orders and receiving, and checking that counts and reconciliations are done correctly.
  • Proficiency with Shopify and a returns platform (Loop preferred); comfort learning new ERP or PLM tools.
  • Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills: pivots, lookups and KPI tracking.
  • Experience building calendars and timelines and holding teams to deadlines.
  • Experience managing carriers and vendors against service levels and cost targets.
  • Organized, practical and calm under pressure; a natural problem solver who fixes the process, not just the problem in front of you.
  • Clear written and verbal communicator who escalates early with a recommended solution.
Nice to have
  • Experience with overseas sourcing (Asia), inbound freight, HTS codes, duties and landed cost.
  • Experience setting up barcode labeling and scanning workflows.
  • Experience evaluating or onboarding a 3PL.
Compensation and Details:
  • Salary: $85,000/year, based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
  • Benefits: Industry-standard benefits.
  • Schedule: Monday-Friday, on-site in Los Angeles [Culver City / DTLA]. Additional hours during launches and peak season as needed.
Physical requirements
  • Regular time on the warehouse floor: standing, walking, bending and reaching for extended periods.
  • Able to lift, move, push and pull up to 40 lbs.
  • Able to operate computers, scanners, label printers and standard office equipment.
  • Reasonable accommodations will be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the role.
