Job Description

I. Job Summary

This role is responsible for onboarding, developing, coaching, mentoring, and performance management of all drivers and helpers. Establishes and maintains positive relationships with all front-line employees. The role involves spending the majority of the day in the field with front-line employees.

Preferred Experience and Qualifications:

  • Previous driver management or supervision
  • Previous CDL driver management or supervision
  • Leadership experience
  • Current or previous CDL

II. Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Onboarding: Ensure new frontline employees have tools, instructions, and feedback for successful daily duties. Meet with new employees daily for consistent communication and support.
  • Developing: Provide timely and consistent feedback. Review best practices to enhance performance. Support employees' career goals.
  • Coaching: Identify improvement opportunities and collaborate to ensure success. Practice and seek feedback on coaching conversations.
  • Mentoring: Lead by example to prioritize safety and teach the WM Way.
  • Performance Management: Conduct root cause investigations for injuries and incidents. Maintain records for regulatory compliance. Review and audit route operation documentation daily. Visit customer sites to evaluate and resolve safety issues.

III. Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree or equivalent experience; or High School Diploma with two years relevant work experience.
  • Successful completion of the WM Route Manager Trainee program.
  • Must be at least 18 years old and legally eligible to work.
  • Valid Driver's License.

IV. Physical Requirements

  • This job operates in both office and field environments, requiring standard office equipment use.
