Set against the rolling hills west of St. Louis, The Inns at St. Albans offers a unique blend of historic charm and elevated rural hospitality. The property hosts a mix of overnight guests, intimate weddings, group retreats, and culinary weekends. As a beloved destination for both locals and out-of-town visitors, we pride ourselves on attention to detail, service, and creating timeless guest experiences.

We are currently seeking a hands-on Operations Manager to lead daily operations with the skillset and responsibilities of a Team Leader. Due to the boutique nature of the property, this role requires direct involvement in all aspects of service delivery, from staff oversight to event execution.

Role Summary

The Operations Manager will be the face of the property’s daily operations—leading a small, high-performance team, managing guest experiences, coordinating events, and ensuring smooth and polished execution across departments. This individual must thrive in a hands-on leadership role and be equally comfortable managing a team, jumping in to solve problems, and building long-term operational systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Property Operations

  • Oversee all front-of-house and back-of-house operations including guest services, housekeeping, maintenance, and vendor coordination.
  • Step in to assist departments when needed—this is a sleeves-rolled-up, visible leadership position.

Team Management

  • Hire, train, schedule, and manage a cross-functional team.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, hospitality, and professionalism.

Guest Experience

  • Lead efforts to exceed guest expectations through high-touch, detail-oriented service.
  • Act as the primary guest liaison for escalations, feedback, and relationship building.

Event Planning & Execution

  • Act as the onsite event lead for weddings, retreats, corporate bookings, and culinary weekends.
  • Work closely with clients, vendors, and internal teams to plan and deliver events seamlessly.
  • Create and manage detailed Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) to communicate event details across departments.
  • Ensure event timelines and service standards are met or exceeded.

Financial & Strategic Oversight

  • Monitor and manage budgets, labor efficiency, supply costs, and vendor expenses.
  • Prepare operational and financial reports for ownership.
  • Identify opportunities to improve systems, service delivery, and guest satisfaction.

Community & Vendor Relations

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local vendors, service providers, and the broader St. Albans community.
  • Represent the property in tourism and regional hospitality networks as needed.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years in hospitality sector
  • Experience with boutique hotels, inns, event venues, or similar high-touch guest environments.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Proven track record managing both daily operations and special events.
  • Proficiency in creating and executing BEOs or similar planning documents.
  • Able and willing to work evenings, weekends, and holidays based on property needs.
  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience
