Job description

Triple-S Steel is seeking an Operations Manager to lead warehouse, logistics, safety, inventory, and facility operations for our Chesapeake, VA location. This role is responsible for driving operational efficiency, developing employees, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and delivering exceptional service to our customers.

Responsibilities:

• Lead daily warehouse, distribution, and plant operations to ensure safe, accurate, timely, and cost-effective product delivery.
• Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, company safety programs, security practices, and operational policies.
• Maintain product quality, inventory accuracy, equipment performance, operator productivity, and order fulfillment standards.
• Protect assets, support facility maintenance, and recommend equipment, technology, and property improvements.
• Manage operating costs, labor performance, expense budgets, and capital budgets; identify overruns and implement corrective actions.
• Lead department goals, continuous improvement efforts, and process efficiencies that drive productivity gains.
• Provide site leadership for Chesapeake, Virginia operations, including performance targets and quarterly operations review cadence.
• Adjust objectives and operating plans based on business needs, technology changes, and compliance requirements.
• Partner with sales, branch leadership, and internal teams to support customer satisfaction and operational excellence.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• Lead operations leadership, set expectations, monitor targets, and drive accountability across warehouse, distribution, and plant operations.
• Administer supervisory responsibilities in compliance with company policies, applicable laws, OSHA, DOT, and corporate safety programs.
• Oversee hiring, onboarding, training, coaching, development, performance management, recognition, corrective action, and issue resolution.

Qualifications

• Minimum, BS or BA degree in business, industrial engineering, distribution or related field
• Minimum ten (10) years of experience in distribution/production
• Minimum five (5) years of experience in management/supervisory position
• Knowledge of industrial engineering, human resources laws and regulations, and employee relations skills.
• Experience managing other managers

Physical Requirements:

Ability to sit, stand, walk, and use hands for extended periods. Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. regularly and up to 40 lbs. occasionally. Requires close and distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Working Conditions:

Work is performed in both office and warehouse environments. Occasional exposure to moving equipment, airborne particles, chemicals, and other industrial conditions. Noise levels range from moderate to occasionally high.
