The Kraft Group & Affiliates is seeking an Operations Manager to oversee a single-site, single-shift manufacturing facility in Boylston, MA. You will lead production execution, collaborate with Planning/Scheduling, Engineering, Materials, and Quality teams, and drive continuous improvement while managing costs and quality in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires a strong track record in manufacturing leadership, Lean methodologies, and the ability to motivate a cross-functional team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree required; Engineering, Business preferred
  • Experience in manufacturing and leadership roles
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily execution of the multi-shift operation and coordinate with Departments.
  • Provide direction, feedback, performance evaluations, and training.
  • Staff and schedule employees to meet production plans and quality targets.
  • Monitor costs, material usage, payroll, and other expenses.
  • Drive improvement through data reporting and transparent metrics.
  • Collaborate on Process Engineering initiatives with Engineering and Quality.
  • Establish and maintain a safety culture and reduce downtime with Maintenance.
  • Handle special projects as needed.
  • Maintain compliance with privacy and confidentiality standards.

Job description

Summary

This role is responsible for all production, supervision, control, and process development of a complex manufacturing environment. The Operations Manager leads a single site single-shift operation. The Operations Manager drives overall execution by working collaboratively with peer Planning/Scheduling, Engineering, Materials, Production, Customer Service, Safety/Quality, Sales and Maintenance Managers. This role is accountable to achieve production levels and quality standards in a dynamic time sensitive environment, while driving continued improvement through process efficiencies and fiscal responsibility

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Lead daily execution of the multi-shift operation by synchronizing the Production team's operations, and coordinating and collaborating with supporting and supported functional Departments.
  • Lead and supervise by clear communication of expectations, feedback, performance evaluations, training and role modeling. Develop a cross-functional, motivated team delivering stellar results.
  • Work with Supervisors and Team Leads to appropriately staff and schedule employees for current and anticipated workload to ensure production plans and quality expectations are consistently achieved.
  • Monitor cost effectiveness of work orders, material usage, payroll, miscellaneous costs and damage.
  • Leverage reporting and transparency in a collaborative team environment focused on key metrics.
  • Measure and educate organization on efficiencies, quality expectations and professionalism to drive improvement.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Quality to execute Process Engineering program.
  • Lead and institute a safety culture for all employees. Partner with Maintenance to ensure equipment is operating; reduce down time and machine costs.
  • Special projects and assignments as business dictates
  • Responsible for the maintenance, creation and control of all personally identifiable information or any other information protected by any Confidentiality or Privacy Standards or Company Policies that you have access or knowledge of, including but not limited to any state or federal regulations including HIPAA
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Employees including: Full-time Supervisory Personnel (Exempt & Non-Exempt), Team Lead and hourly paid nonunion personnel.
Skills And Qualifications
  • Bachelor Degree required; Engineering, Business preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in a related field; manufacturing preferred
  • Prior management experience (3-years with supervisory responsibility leading 25+ people in a process, production, or mission oriented environment) required; 2nd level supervisory experience preferred
  • Knowledge of and experience with process improvement - Lean Manufacturing, etc
  • Strategic and detail oriented, with orientation for thoughtful action
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word, Powerpoint, Excel
  • Ability to create and track key performance metrics
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends
  • Technical experience with carton erecting equipment
  • Must have attention to detail and focused concentration.
  • Must be able to learn new tasks and complete tasks independently.
  • Must be able to make timely decisions in the context of the workflow.
  • Must possess strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task and responsiveness.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands to handle or feel
  • Must be able to drive and visit customer locations
  • The employee frequently is required to talk or hear
  • The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
