Job summary

PIRTEK South Boise is hiring an Operations Manager to lead our field service technicians and own day-to-day operations. This leadership role blends people development with hands-on support, with 70% leadership, sales, and operations and 30% field involvement.

You will report directly to the franchise owner, build a technician development program, drive safety compliance, and optimize productivity. The role offers training opportunities and a clear path to higher leadership.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Experience in industrial/mechanical/construction field a plus.
• Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to safety standards and lead technicians.

The Role

PIRTEK South Boise is hiring an Operations Manager to lead our field service technicians and take ownership of our day-to-day service operation. This is a leadership role for someone who is technically capable, enjoys developing people, solves problems, and gets things done without needing constant direction. The position is approximately 70% leadership, sales, and operational management and 30% field involvement and technical support. You will have meaningful authority to make decisions within your area, and you will be accountable for the results.

The Operations Manager is provided with training opportunities, at the franchise owner’s discretion, on industry knowledge, PIRTEK front and back-end processes, safety standards, and the associated operational software. PIRTEK USA also provides a 24/7 hotline, giving expert support when troubleshooting unusual situations or abnormalities in the field.

What You Will Own

• Adhere to all industry and PIRTEK safety standards
• Lead, coach, and develop field service technicians
• Spend regular time in the field coaching technicians and checking service qualityBuild a technician skill-level and development program that identifies capabilities, training needs, and advancement opportunities
• Improve technician productivity, documentation, and repair quality
• Own technician performance reviews, coaching, and corrective action
• Provide sales route planning to technicians and perform sales support in the field
• Maintain materials and inventory by managing quantities, forecasting needs, and placing Purchase Orders, as needed
• Ensure company equipment and vehicles are well-maintained
• Serve as the primary escalation point for difficult hydraulic and mechanical problems
• Resolve escalated customer and service issues
• Identify operational problems, develop solutions, and carry projects through to completion

Who We’re Looking For

• Strong mechanical troubleshooting ability
• Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
• Experience with field service, construction equipment, rental equipment, heavy‑duty vehicles, material handling, or similar machinery
• Experience leading, coaching, training, and mentoring
• Able to build strong relationships while holding people accountable
• Organized enough to manage multiple priorities and finish what you start
• Comfortable with numbers. You track results, understand what drives cost and productivity, and want to learn the business side.
• Moderate to advanced computer/technology acumen (operational software, inventory management, etc.)

Formal management experience is preferred but not required. We will consider a strong lead technician, field service supervisor, or experienced technical leader ready for more responsibility.

How We Measure Success

We run this business on data. In your first year, we'll measure progress on:

• Technician retention and time to productivity for new hires
• Technician skill progression through our development program
• Callbacks and rework
• First-time fix rate
• Technician overtime hours
• Work order documentation quality
• Fleet preventive maintenance completion and unplanned vehicle downtime
• Customer escalations and complaints

Work Environment

The Operations Manager role will be primarily in the field, performing both sales and operational support, with some at home computer work.

• You will come in contact with oil, grease, lubricant, and other “messy” substances frequently used in this industry
• You may be required to travel for training initiatives, at no cost to you

Compensation & Benefits

• $54,000-$60,000 base salary, based on experience

Schedule

Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM-5:00 PM. The Operations Manager will coordinate and participate in an on-call rotation with technicians.
