Job summary

Akima seeks an Operations Management Specialist to provide comprehensive operational, administrative, and logistical support for regional center programs, conferences, and international engagements. The role coordinates with government personnel, contractors, vendors, participants, and stakeholders to ensure successful program delivery.

The position emphasizes SOP development, financial tracking, status reporting, and use of Power BI tools, in a hybrid work setting at Ft. McNair, Washington, DC.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in operations or project management, especially in Government or DoD contracts.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and reporting skills.
  • Experience with financial tracking, schedule/timeline management, and SOP development.
  • Proficiency with project management tools and data systems (Power BI a plus).
  • Spanish language proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and execute all aspects of WJPC Center’s operations in support of programs and activities annually.
  • Prepare and deliver weekly status reports, including completed tasks, staffing status, financials (travel & ODC), and issues.
  • Lead project planning and implement Government-approved projects on schedule.
  • Participate in onsite meetings; develop briefings, white papers, and responses to data calls as required.
  • Develop and maintain SOPs; coordinate with Contractor and Government personnel, present SOPs for Government review.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all operational specialists’ support and deliverables.
  • Alert Contract Manager to any issues or concerns relating to fellows, guests, activities, or contract deliverables.
  • Utilize PM tools and methods (timelines, task tracking, budget tracking, ODC approvals) to ensure contract requirements are met.
  • Oversee integration of operations-support functions; ensure use of systems (Power BI, workflow) and review/approve estimates before submission to CM.

Job description

The Operations Management Specialist (OMS) provides comprehensive operational, administrative, and logistical support for the planning, execution, and closeout of Regional Center programs, conferences, seminars, workshops, and other engagements conducted domestically and internationally. The OMS serves as a primary operational coordinator throughout the full program lifecycle and works closely with government personnel, contractors, vendors, participants, and other stakeholders to ensure successful program delivery.
