Hinterland Group LLC is seeking an Operations Manager - Pipeline Services to lead field operations, coordinate crews, equipment, safety, schedules, and budgets on pipeline projects across Florida and surrounding states.

You will guide Superintendents and Foremen, align labor and materials, ensure quality and compliance with OSHA standards, and maintain strong client relationships while delivering projects on time and within budget.

Position Summary

The Operations Manager - Pipeline Services is responsible for the day-to-day performance of pipeline field operations and assigned projects. This position leads Superintendents, Foremen, and field crews and coordinates labor, equipment, materials, schedules, safety, quality, and production. The Operations Manager works closely with Project Management and supporting departments to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget while maintaining strong client relationships.

Duties & Responsibilities

1. Operational Planning & Coordination

• Plan and coordinate daily and long-range pipeline operations across assigned projects and crews.
• Review project scopes, plans, specifications, schedules, permits, contracts, and client requirements before work begins.
• Coordinate labor, equipment, materials, subcontractors, access, traffic control, bypass operations, testing, and inspections.
• Identify staffing needs, schedule conflicts, utility concerns, equipment limitations, and other operational risks before they affect production.

2. Field Operations & Production

• Direct pipeline inspection, cleaning, installation, maintenance, repair, excavation, bypass pumping, and related field activities.
• Establish production goals, crew assignments, work sequencing, and daily priorities for Superintendents and Foremen.
• Monitor field progress, productivity, jobsite conditions, and schedules and take corrective action when needed.
• Visit project sites regularly and coordinate mobilization, testing, tie-ins, restoration, and closeout activities.

3. Leadership & Workforce Management

• Lead and support Superintendents, Foremen, operators, drivers, laborers, and other assigned personnel.
• Set clear expectations for safety, attendance, conduct, productivity, workmanship, documentation, and equipment care.
• Participate in workforce planning, hiring, onboarding, training, employee development, and performance management with Human Resources.
• Address staffing or performance concerns promptly and promote accountability, teamwork, and compliance with company procedures.

4. Safety, Quality & Compliance

• Enforce company safety policies, project safety plans, client requirements, and applicable OSHA and environmental regulations.
• Verify required safety meetings, job hazard analyses, inspections, permits, and employee qualifications are current and documented.
• Ensure safe procedures are followed for excavation, trenching, confined-space entry, traffic control, lifting, rigging, bypass pumping, and equipment operation.
• Review incidents and quality concerns, confirm corrective actions are completed, and verify work meets contract requirements.

5. Equipment, Resources & Financial Performance

• Forecast and allocate labor, vehicles, equipment, tooling, materials, and subcontractor resources across active and upcoming projects.
• Coordinate equipment availability, transfers, preventive maintenance, repairs, and replacement needs with Fleet and Warehouse personnel.
• Monitor labor hours, production quantities, equipment use, material consumption, downtime, and subcontractor performance.
• Review job costs with Project Management, address conditions affecting profitability, and protect company assets.

6. Communication, Documentation & Client Relations

• Coordinate regularly with Project Managers, Estimating, Safety, Fleet, Warehouse, Human Resources, Finance, clients, inspectors, and subcontractors.
• Provide management with timely updates regarding production, staffing, schedules, safety, quality, equipment, costs, and project risks.
• Ensure timecards, daily reports, production records, photographs, delivery tickets, inspection records, and other required documents are complete and accurate.
• Document changed conditions, delays, extra work, and client requests; maintain professional client relationships; and perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands

Work is performed in offices, yards, and active construction-site environments, with regular travel to pipeline project sites and company facilities. The position may require early mornings, evenings, weekends, extended hours, or emergency availability. Jobsite conditions may include heat, humidity, rain, noise, dust, wastewater exposure, traffic, uneven terrain, excavations, confined spaces, and heavy equipment. The employee must be able to walk active jobsites, climb, bend, stand for extended periods, wear required personal protective equipment, and safely access construction areas.
